For anyone that has read one of my reviews before, you will know I don’t write just a couple lines simply saying what a lovely holiday we had, so read on. It is a pity to say it, but after finding so many good things about the hotel there are also a number of things that let it down. On arrival the hotel does look impressive. The check-in thought was long winded. After four hours traveling we just wanted to get to our room to freshen up and relax, but no. You give in your booking details at reception and are given cold towels to cool yourself down with. You are then shown through into the lobby bar where you’re given a glass of lemonade and some snacks. Nice touches but you then wait for what seems like an age and eventually one of the Guest Services staff comes back and asks you to use your phone to sign, via their app, to say all of your details are correct. Not easy as my phone wouldn’t connect to their Wi-Fi. Eventually we got shown to our room, only a short walk away and on the way you get told about the hotel facilities, all of which you’ve probably forgotten 5 minutes later. I can only imagine the waiting time if a lot of people were checking in at the same time. On the plus side the room was great, despite a few issues. Spacious and with a nice comfy bed. The panoramic view we booked was fantastic and truly that. The bottle of Prosecco was a lovely addition. However, the hotel itself is showing signs of its age. Scuffed paintwork, bits of plaster missing on corners of walls, the bottoms of doors, etc. starting to blister from where floors have been mopped and some of the plastic wickerwork chairs in the bars starting to unravel and split. The other problem throughout the whole hotel was the Wi-Fi. Even in our room which was very close to the lobby, the Wi-Fi signal was weak and would drop out. Oddly enough the best signal we could get was near the pool bar. For the first week of our stay one of the two lifts was out of action, and not for the first time judging from the reviews of guests who stayed in August. Having only one lift meant a lot of waiting or walking up and down many flights of stairs. Our room had quite a few maintenance issues. The plastic kettle, although extremely clean, had started to degrade around the top, so the lid didn’t fit properly and kept dropping inside when we tried to use it. They did give us a brand new one but left the old one behind. One of the hand towel rings fell off the wall the first time we went to use the towel. The rail holding the shower head came loose one morning and dropped down. The problem was quickly fixed once we reported it but annoyingly whoever fixed it also left us with a bath and bathroom floor full of dirty footprints. The air conditioning seemed to have a mind of its own, as it would often switch itself off before the room had cooled down to what we set the thermostat to. Not good when the temperature in the room was up in the 20’s at night. When we reported the problem it
