Hampton Inn & Suites New Castle

Our recent stay at the Hampton Inn – New Castle, PA was disappointing at best. While our room was clean, which is of upmost importance. However that is the only positive thing I can say about the quality of our room. After cleanliness the most important item is comfort and a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately that was hampered by a very uncomfortable bed, pillows that were flat as pancakes and a top sheet that was so worn, we could actually see through it. Add to the deadbolt that didn’t lock completely, the very old shower door that we had trouble opening, a microwave located on a shelf so low that the buttons were at my knees and almost impossible to read, and a tv without a channel guide. The last straw was taking food out of the refrigerator and finding it was frozen solid and ruined. (There was no temperature control in the refrigerator.) Also, the room didn’t have a safe, which is pretty basic in most hotel rooms, regardless of price.

Front desk and breakfast staff were so friendly. The room is in need of a deep cleaning and repairs. See pictures. I would be embarrassed to have this hotel as part of my chain. When a hotel room is in this type of condition - you should have daily cleaning. There is NO discount for any lack of service that they provide. Chair was stained and gross, bathroom ceiling had water damage and looked to almost be falling down. Black "mold" around the shower - this was $150/night.

We are easy going and have stayed here quite a few times over the years with no complaints, however this place has gone way downhill. Although the staff was friendly (specifically the woman in charge of breakfast) and breakfast was good, the room was below average. Beside the fact that we had to kill a centipede on the floor and a very large wolf spider on the wall, the chair was badly stained, wall paper was starting to peel and there was even a clipped toenail on the rug. We notified the desk when they texted us about our stay, but because they said they were fully booked, they said they couldn't change our room until the next day. They never did. When they asked if there was something they could do to make it right (via text message), I suggested that they give us a deduction on our bill. They never did that either, nor did they respond back. The morning we were leaving, we came back to the room after breakfast and saw an exterminator leaving our room, regardless that we had the 'sleeping' tag on our door. Needless to say, we don't plan on ever staying there again even though they claimed renovations are scheduled for this Fall. If we have to go a little furthur out of town to stay the next time, it will be worth the drive.

Stayed here a few times over the years. This was our first time meeting the desk crew of Alexis and Harsh (GM). Though checkin time was a few hours away, they knew we were weary travelers and quickly found us rooms to settle in. We so appreciated their kindness and wanted to publicly say "Thank You"! This place is consistently well maintained to the Hampton Inn quality that you expect. The rooms are fresh and clean with comfy beds. The breakfast team work hard each morning to offer hot and cold choices that are constantly replenished. They are always moving around cleaning up to make room for the next guest. We thoroughly enjoy our stay each time. Keep up the great work. Enjoy!

The management of this hotel has let things slide to a degree that the place is not only dirty, but unsafe. We had to ask for clean sheets on the beds when we checked in and also found that the floors had not been cleaned. The mirror above the sink was still spattered from the previous guests. More concerning is what we found at 6:00 in the morning. On walking down from the top floor we found that every fire door was propped open. When I brought this to the attention of the two people working at the front desk they agreed that it was a problem but did not address it. Instead they continued to stand and chat with each other. I then went up and down both ends of the hotel and closed the fire doors myself. I shudder to think what would have happened had there been a fire! I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past but now will choose a hotel that is further away in order to have a place that is clean and safe.

I recommend this hotel. Unless you are real picky you will be very pleased with the accommodations the staff and location. NOT at all happy about the booking on their web site. I think I got scammed. The fees were very high but I was under pressure to book. After I checked on a brand name travel site and could have booked for $75 less.

This was really one of the best Hampton Inns we’ve visited. The decor was very nice and the hotel was immaculately clean. Staff were kind, courteous, and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful, especially for families with young children. My impression was that everyone at this hotel takes pride in it and in their customer service- wonderful!

We stayed in this hotel for 5 days visiting family in the area. The first night there was a problem with noise from the street. Maria took care of that quickly by moving us to another room. I like the hot breakfasts always ready, so I don't have to wait for it to be cooked.

We came to New Castle for a surprise birthday party and elected to book here because it was close by. Wow, what a treat! This hotel was so clean and all the staff was very friendly even though it was a frigid weekend. Breakfast was great as well. We will definitely stay here again the next time we come to this area. Convenient to gas, shopping, restaurants as well.
