Paper thin walls and a ceiling that bounces when the people above walk around. 2am fire alarm which the receptionist didn’t seem to know what to do. Doors slamming and people talking in the main corridor through the night. Fair to say that I had very little sleep and will never ever stay here again.

The room was large and had a good bathroom with superb over bath shower. It was nice & clean. However there was no air conditioning in the bedroom and with all the rooms being set either side of an unventilated long corridor and having a window which could only be opened a fraction ( for safety reasons ) it was unbearably hot and stuffy and we found it almost impossible to sleep for the four nights we were there. There was a floor standing fan but it wasn't working well and barely produced any breeze at all.

This place was awfully very run down for a premier in there was no air con and the room was unbearably hot the windows were screwed down to only open a couple of inches, I managed to get them to open slightly more about an inch but it didn’t really help, the fan was ineffective the pillows are usually very soft but they were really hard not a comfortable nights sleep and the heat was unbearable even when the fan as kept on 24/7 would never use again not really impressed with the breakfast either there was not even hot water for tea one morning as it hadn’t been filled and the coffee machine never worked all weekend . Only thing can be said is the staff were really friendly and as helpful as they could be

We were welcomed by a very helpful receptionist and the colouring kits for the kids were really kind. Unfortunately in the room as soon as I switched the fan on dust blew around the room. I had to clean the fan of a huge layer of dust. There is a scorch mark of some description in the bath. Our evening meal was lovely and the restaurant staff really efficient and kind. We were shocked to arrive to breakfast for the coffee machine to be broken. Premier Inn Breakfasts are usually good value but to only be offered sachets of instant coffee reduced this considerably. We bought our own coffee at Macdonald's! The staff saved the experience, they're lovely

Dont book this hotel in the summer! I stayed 2 nights (was booked for 4). When I arrived the temperature in the room was 28.5 degrees c. I had the window as far open as its safety stays would allow and 2 fans running for the next 36 hours - the temperature reduced to 27.5. It was hot the day I arrived - but for most of the following 36 hours around 20degrees outside. This suggests not only that it was unbearably hot, but also that air circulation was inadequate. The management currently refuse to refund the 2 nights I didn't stay because of this.

The experience was generally average. There was one receptionist who worked during the day on Monday 14 July 2025 was great, she was very helpful, friendly and went out of her way to support.

Used this hotel as not a crazy inflated price ahead of a stereophonics concert in Cardiff. Was greeted by staff in a warm way, all my details was ready on system and just had to pay the balance. Room was spotless and all ready. Due to the heatwave the staff had closed curtains, left window open and put a fan in the room (helped a little). We didnt use the restaurant or bar due to leaving at 6am next morning. Apart from the heat (32 degrees in room) we all slept really well. Free parking and wifi was a bonus. Would use again

The room was hotter than the surface of the sun - I have never had such an uncomfortable night in my life. I had to lay near the window on the sofa to be able to breath - 31.5degree heat. No sleep was had! Spent the following day at home recovering! Please invest in air con! For £165 a night you can surely afford it!!!

Although the rooms are what you would expect , the lack of air conditioning meant we didn't get much sleep We weren't offered a fan and with the windows only opening an inch it was a very uncomfortable night. The hotel is looking tired and it certainly didn't feel like value for money . The restaurant provides adequate fare but much better quality can be had elsewhere and had webeen closer to town we wouldn't have bothered . As regular visitors to Newport we will certainly look at the other options available

Whilst the staff and the room were great. the lack of aircon or even natural ventilation (due to the ties preventing the windows from opening) on a warm day prevented sleep. It is surely the first priority of any hotel to provide a good night's sleep - which we found impossible at 27C at 3.30am! Otherwise, the hotel deserves a 5* review.

Absolutely useless staff , unhelpful! The rooms were ridiculously hot and only one small fan available which did not rotate and not allowed anymore even though we had a small child. Asked to swap rooms but apparently all booked up, windows do not open any wider so room felt like a complete sauna! Do not recommend at all and would not stay again.

Booked a family room to visit friends in Caldicot. Arrived at the hotel around 10pm, car park was overflowing and very limited spaces outside the hotel for a family with small children. Checked in and went to our room, found the window wide open which made the room absolutely freezing! Got settled in for the night, the main bed was as you would expect from a premier inn so was one of the single beds. The other single bed was like lying on a piece of wood. The morning after all became clear as why the window was left wide open. It was to mask the smell of the damp, the room and the bathroom was covered in black mold! Not something you want your children breathing in throughout the night. We got ready for breakfast and informed the lady on reception of the issues and were told that we can only call and make a complaint after check out at 12. The bathroom looked as though it had not been cleaned in weeks, complimentary shower gel and hand wash near empty and covered in rust and black mold in the bathroom also. Call premier inn to inform them of the issues and all they could do is refund 1/2 of the payment for the stay. We have used premier inn up and down the country and this is by far the worst hotel we have stopped in. My advise would be not to use this hotel and go a bit further to use the one in Cribbs Causeway which is brilliant.

Bedroom was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. I choose the continental style breakfast and it was lovely. It was approximately 10min outside Newport City which was fine as getting a taxi to and from the hotel was no problem.
