Saruni Leopard Hill

We had an incredible 4 night stay at Leopard Hill, probably the best experience we have ever had. What made the stay is the staff and service. I wish we could name everyone but special thank you to Solomon who made sure we saw all the animals, and Benson (otherwise known as Spencer). Couldn’t recommend it more, we hope to see you all again in a couple of years!

We really enjoyed Leopard hill, so quiet and quaint. Loved all the furniture and little touches here and there. We had a lovely experience. We even tried the outdoor shower in the morning! Some highlights were wine before lunch in the main lounge, coffee brought to our personal veranda at 0600, the open roof to watch the stairs as an option, the bathrobes, the night safari drive, and the wonderful staff! 3 female friends stayed in a triple room tent.

This was a very welcoming hotel with friendly staff and give you a welcoming water bottle with your name with 2 amazing guides called Steve and dickson and the rooms are well decorated with a free 30minute massage which was very relaxing and an insane view

Being in the Masai Mara this is one of eight camps of this conservancy, but the location is stunning, surrounded by trees and bushes, with plenty of birds and the occasional wildlife passing by. There are six fully tented rooms each served by a personal butler and an unique feature of a motorised roof that can be retracted at night to reveal the stars. We were visited each day by chatty swallows who sat on the wire fence around the decking. All the staff were delightful and attentive and the food was varied and delicious. We were taken out on safaris by our female Masai driver, Nash, but bearing in mind that this area is vast, you have to travel a long way on bumpy roads to find the special big cats. Having said that we came across a female cheetah with four teenage cubs just lying in the sun. We were however put off by the number of other vehicles chasing after a sighting of leopard.

When deciding where we wanted to go for our honeymoon, I discovered the idea of the conservancy near the Masai Mara. After reaching out to several companies, we were most excited about the offer we heard from Basecamp Explorer. We wanted to see the animals and were keen for a more private experience, but we also wanted to make sure we traveled responsibly and our money would benefit the local community. Basecamp Explorer is doing great work in the community and we felt the money we spent with them will have a positive impact. I've never had such high expectations for an experience on a trip. I can say that, even with my exceedingly high expectations of Basecamp Explorer, they still exceeded them. I hope that, one day, we can return to Tent 2 at Leopard Hill. A piece of our hearts will always live on there. Thanks for the exceptional service, thrilling game drives, and the work you do with the community.

Our safari tent accomadation was very luxurious. Its beautiful appointments included a motorized ceiling, which opened for star viewing! Beds were huge and comfy. We enjoyed the warm hot water bottles each night! The staff and masai guards made us feel like family. We felt safe and comfortable at all times! Meals were so good. One person in our party is vegetarian and his meals were great, too. Our last evening at Leopard Hill was truly special. Our daughter had told the manager that we were celebrating our 63rd wedding anniversary. What a celebration! The entire staff including our guide and Masai guards circled our table dancing and singing and presented a beautiful decorated cake! We will always treasure the memory and the love we felt.

We had an amazing 5 nights at Leopard Hill with our family (4 children ages 8-15). The service we received was comparable to a 5 star resort but with a sense of familiarity like you’re staying with family. The food was delicious and the variety kept our palates entertained and satisfied for the duration of our stay which was a pleasant surprise. Even the packed breakfasts and lunches on safari were delicious. We loved the attention to detail and the efforts to be sustainable at the resort. Our driver David was wonderful and within our first day we managed to see the big 5 and lots more. The fact that you can sit on your private deck and watch zebras, giraffes etc. march by daily like a parade felt out of this world. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Leopard Hill and hope to return again in the future.

Spent 5 amazing days at the camp. Staff are incredible, food is delicious and the animals are out of this world. A wonderful experience, seeing every animal we had wished for and more. William was welcoming and interested and our driver Damaris was very knowledgable. Would love to return in the future. Couldn’t recommend it more!

The Leopard hill camp will always have a special place in my heart. We decided on a Safari & beach honeymoon which we booked through Mark Boyd safaris (also highly recommend.) As this was our first Safari experience we wanted to make sure we got the best advice and wow did this beautiful camp deliver. As soon as you arrive, your guide will pick you up from the airstrip and start your first game drive on the way back to camp! (We were so lucky we saw a cheetah among others within 5 mins of arriving!) When we got to camp, the serenity was real. The staff greeted us with open arms and made us feel so welcome. They described the place as one family, it really was. The tents, wow. These aren’t ordinary tents, they are luxurious, the pics don’t do them justice. With 2 showers, double sink, plenty of space and even a retractable roof to gaze at the stars at night. We were in tent 1 right next to the watering hole where we had giraffes and zebra at our front door! You are left wanting nothing at this place, the staff go above and beyond. You have tribe guards with you after dark too and walkie talkies and wifi in your tents. They really pride themselves on their sustainable approach, no plastic, limited lighting which all adds to the ‘bush’ experience with a twist! Food: 3 meals a day, a la carte plus snacks at tea time, We were blown away by every single meal. (We honestly didn’t have very high expectations considering we’re in the middle of a game reserve with limited power at times! But we weren’t there for the food after all, although this was a huge bonus) fresh meat, lovely desserts, all prepared by their chefs in training whenever you wanted. Wonderful. You would be offered teas/ coffees/ snacks before each drive and nothing was ever too much of an ask. Your tents have blankets in for your use as well. Drinks: alcohol isn’t included but the wine is wonderful, so reasonably priced too! Location: amazing, there are only 6 camps in this conservancy which means there are never more than a few cars at any sighting, this was wonderful as we were often first to sightings! Also the clue is in the name, we were blessed to see a leopard more than once and it was only 5 mins from the camp! Cleanliness: your tent is cleaned 3x a day to such a high standard! The surrounding areas of the tents and the communal areas were always pristine too. Safari: our guide DAVID was just incredible. Lovely guy, very friendly and professional. I’m sure all are the same! He was so knowledgable and always spotted amazing sightings for us. Only feedback I have would be to perhaps to provide anoraks/ light overcoats for the drives when it’s raining, we did notice a few other cars provided these. This is a tiny observation though! Staff: huge shout out to Ivy, Milton the main manager Benson who ensured our stay was amazing. Also the the masaai tribe members for the wonderful shows they put on for us at dinner, and for keeping us safe, we are truly blessed. We
