Caribbean House

The whole place is so adorable and clean. The rooms are not huge but so close to Duval street and the Coffee Butler Amphitheatre. There are a amazing restaurants 1 block away. Blue Heaven, Cubin corner and the Crepe one. The staff was very helpful also.

Pros: great location, you are going to be in the middle of all the activities. Restaurants, shops, historic landmarks, museums, etc. Yet, the hotel is an aside from roaring drunk crowds. You will have relatively quiet stay (more about it later, keep on reading). Overall, fairly clean and well kept. Con’s: like everything else in Key West, the property is old and very dated. The rooms are very small, even more so was the bathroom. The shower was 2,5’x2’. No, it’s real, enough to fit me in so I could spin around to take a shower. The sink barely fitted in the corner. Very small. There is no room to breathe there. Some mold on the ceiling and walls (expected in Key West). If you are a light sleeper look somewhere else! Noise insulation is nonexistent. I had neighbors and I could hear everything they were fighting about. Yeah, it was bad. So if you are going to have neighbors next door (and you will most likely), it will be loud, regardless. Breakfast was a joke. Pics included. The blueberry scone was a midget size, so was the orange. No hot items, everything was cold. You’ll have an option of coffee and juice, some fruit, bagel and cheese, cereal with milk, yogurt and that’s about it. Very FIRM mattress. Might be an issue for some. TV is from a previous era, small and poor quality. But I didn’t use it, didn’t care for one to begin with. If you are looking to crash for a night or two, this place is good enough.

I had a great time in KW, and Carribean House was a great place to stay. Great location near Duval St. My room was super clean and comfortable. The staff was respinsive and helpful. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

For me the location doesn’t get any better if you are looking for beach access, great food, and bars. All that makes up for the tiny shower and street noise.

Room was extremely small and uncomfortable Bed so high we needed a step to climb up. No chairs in the room. Difficult to walk around the bed to get to the bathroom especially if someone is charging their phone on that side of the room. You get what you pay for.

We got a real shoebox-sized room—so small that there is no place for a second nightstand. In addition, I don't know who gave them the idea to put the liquid soap dispenser right above the toilet paper... If you plan to bring diving or any other type of equipment, I suggest looking for another hotel. If you just need a place to crash, this will do. The old town is within walking distance, and the Hemingway House is at the next traffic light. The place has a nice AC, is clean and quiet. Several very good restaurants and bars are located practically next door.

The staff was very helpful. The rooms are tastefully decorated. It is in an excellent location. The only things I would change about it are 1) I would have liked breakfast to be available earlier than 8:30 a.m., 2) a small microwave in each room would have been convenient (there is one in a common area but that area is only lit by natural lighting so inaccessible in the evening - after 7 a.m.), and 3) the rooms are very humid (towels had to be replaced daily and even clothing became damp). We were in KW during an unusually heavy rainy week. I do not know if other times would have been as humid in the rooms; if so, a dehumidifier would be a good addition.

If you understand Key West short-term rental, this is a nice, clean very small but well kept spot. Really good location and ease of access. That being said, there is nothing extra here...this is for the person that is focusing on being away from their room for the time. TV worked to some extent, but not perfectly. Had a/c, small bits of storage..really everything you need.

The entire experience at Caribbean House was top notch from beginning to end! Continental breakfast brought to the room, rich and robust coffee “on tap”, Mary and her staff had the friendliest greetings and were always super accommodating as though they hadn’t a care in the world! Though the room is small (after all, you’re only sleeping there!), it was super clean and the location was the best…close to everything!
