Karlamuiza Country Hotel

We wanted to go to the Gaujas National Park because of the castles around Sigulda and Cesis and lucked out founding this place to stay over night in. It is a lovely bed and breakfast style hotel set in Gauja National Park. The grounds have an apple orchard, a couple of ponds and a good short hike nearby that takes about 20 minutes one way. We booked the Christian room and it was nice and cozy. The beds were very comfy and we liked the number of pillows we got. There is a mini fridge, tea station and a small sitting area with a table in front of the TV. We came in and had a good sleep at this quiet property. The shower needed some help as the door slides were not properly mounted when we arrived and the wheels were off their tracks for both slides - I remounted on my own but the property may want to look into a repair or replacement. The shower was still pretty good and got nice and hot. My wife loved this place and said if we had more time she would have loved to have brought her paint or read a book. The property is very picturesque with some ponds, nice trees and there was a storm nesting on the property when we went. All the rooms are upstairs and there is a big couch in front of the window that overlooks the property and the dining room area is quite spacious too. If you plan on going for a hike here bring some good shoes. The trail can be quite muddy after a rain but it is in decent condition. The hotel has a map and can make suggestions for hikes in the area. The national park is full of good hikes too and the hotel itself is near Sigulda which has some good moderate hikes near the Gutman Caves and castles in the area. The hotel also has some bikes and kayaks on property. We felt the breakfast was good and we believed that most of the items provided were local like the farm fresh eggs and the apple juice. You have to put in your breakfast order the night before and if you book with supper it seems you have to call ahead to make your choices. The hotel is in the countryside so there isn't much around but nature. Cesis is a 10 minute drive away and Sigulda is about 30 minutes away. There are some awesome restaurants in Sigulda and the Cesis Castle was an absolute must. The towns also have lots of stores open until 10 pm if you want to pick up some snacks before going in.

The country hotel inside the Gauja National Park s located in the middle of a beautiful tranquil garden and a good place to relax. I had one of the very new rooms, apparently just opened a few weeks before and it was nicely furnished, had a comfortable bed and a really modern bathroom. the buffet breakfast was fine and had a good variety incl. local cheeses, fresh fruit, pankakes, etc. and you can order freshly prapared eggs. For dinner was a choice of two different three course meal which were nicely presented and tasty. Baiba and Janis run that place as a family operation and they were very personable and knowledgable. I liked the National Park and you can actually access hiking trails right from the hotel. I noticed that they also offered canoe trips through the hotel. I would also recommend to visit the nearby towns of Cesis and Ligatne. I REALLY enjoyed my stay and if I am ever back in that part of the world I would definately stay there again.

Loved staying there. Beautiful sorroundings during springtime with flouring apple trees. Nice short walk near by.

Very pretty hotel out in the country. We stayed in the Annmarie cottage which was well away from the main hotel but right next to the owner’s dad’s cottage. The cottage has a full size bed in bedroom and a small sofa bed in living room. Small kitchen adequate. We enjoyed the pretty deck out back. Breakfast was good.

Checkin process was quick and nice, breakfast was made exactly when we wanted it, personal touch, nice rooms and beautiful view from room and balcony. Room was equipped with al basic needs and bar with good prices is also available.

Lovely place. We celebrated my mom's birthday here with some of the closest friends and we were left very satisfied and happy. The two minor things - there was miscommunication about breakfast even though we already paid a lot for the accomodation for all friends, and the evening meal. And the rooms could use a little "spruce up". But otherwise we enjoyed it there and the food was just brilliant - starters were a clever little food-painitng-game, all meat was done to perfection - soft and melting on tongue. Overall, a lovely little place where to stay for some authenticity of a countryside charm.

Beautiful countryside estate with apple orchard and country sauna. Warm and cozy. Located in specracular Gauja National park. True paradise for citybees who want to escape to pure nature. Host Baiba Stepina is also known as as participant Chef at Cesis restaurants week and as a guest of nanor house you can enjoy her gourmant dishes ( our choices were local trout and Floating islands). Free parking and good wifi are a bnus.Coffee nachine with capsules and tea facilities in each room as well as fridge. Nice library with art and history books is at disposal of guests. We really enjoyed hospitality and uniqueness of Karlu muiza on Christmas Eve. Thank you so much. Can't wait for new addition to Karlu muiza - another building of historic estate us under reconstruction and will be opened in May 2024.We will be back.

Room was 100% clean. I really liked that there was coffeemaker in the room. I also ordered breakfast and dinner. Food was delicious and I could get breakfast lactose free. Place around the also is really peaceful. You can take small walk around place. And the most incredible part of staying was silence! Highly recommend!

The sauna was the best! Pre-book it in advance and you won't regret it. Nice atmosphere at the main house and garden. Clean rooms and friendly host. Great fresh breakfast could be enjoyed inside or outside.
