Casa Mistela

John and Sonja could not do enough for my friend and I when we stayed in their beautiful hotel. The setting is stunning, the pool And Sun loungers perfect for relaxing on and the breakfast was delicious. Our bedroom which was a luxurious super king, was so clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The air conditioning was perfect and the electric blinds a a lovely touch. We spent our time chilling by the pool and then heading into the beautiful town for some food. I honestly cannot recommend the hotel enough. The perfect relaxing stay.

Lovely contemporary furnished historic Village House B&B with small pool . Our second 4 night visit this year. Hosts John and Sonja are lovely friendly people and make for a very relaxing stay . The rooms are stylish and comfortable and bathrooms are large and quality finished. Breakfast is good and there is a guest fridge ,honesty bar and guest lounge. There is private free parking less than a minute's walk away. A great base to explore the village and surrounding area.

A very warm welcome from the B&B owners Sonja and John. The rooms were very nicely decorated and very clean. Slept very well on the wonderful bed. Breakfast was delicious. We definitely recommend a stay at Casa Mistela.

Very cosy room, the house is very nice as well but what makes the experience even more enjoyable is how friendly the owners are. Very happy with our stay and will definitely comeback and we do also recommend it!

We stayed with a group of 14 friends and had the whole, tastefully decorated house to ourselves. We enjoyed the beautiful and comfortable common areas, kitchen and large bedrooms. Every morning the hosts Sonja and John served an excellent breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

Simply the best B&B in Jalon village. John and Sonja are excellent easy- going, young, friendly hosts and live nearby. Inside , this town house is beautiful and the décor and furnishings are stylish and contemporary but in keeping with the history. Bedrooms are spacious, tasteful and comfortable. Breakfast choice is good and may include warm tortilla ,scrambled eggs or a crepe alongside the usual continental choices. Great coffee. Rooms also have Nespresso style machines. Room Ciruela was my favourite and has a rear balcony and mountain view. There is an honesty bar/fridge in the dining room. Not all rooms have external windows, so be sure to check it out if that is important to you. Bistro Seline was my favourite local restaurant. Would happily return in a flash. We stayed here last weekend, a group of 6 of us. It was my brother’s 50th birthday and he was flying out from the UK with his partner. We needed to find somewhere special to celebrate as we hadn’t been together as a family for 3.5 years. Unbeknown to us, there was a boutique B&B literally only our doorstep. We made an initial enquiry in March of this year and were invited to go and visit the place to have a look round and discuss what we were looking for in terms of our stay and the birthday celebrations that evening. We were so impressed with what we saw on that initial visit we immediately booked, and then spent the next couple of months discussing our requirements via messenger. They always responded quickly and were happy to accommodate all our requests. John and Sonja promised us something special – not only did they deliver on that promise, they exceeded our expectations. We were all blown away from the moment we arrived, from the preparations they’d done for our arrival, to how spotlessly clean everything was, the beautiful rooms, the fully-stocked honesty bar and communal fridge with all the special drinks we’d requested, plus the evening BBQ they put on for us. The food was excellent and never stopped coming! Breakfast the next morning by the pool was also amazing. I cannot rate this place highly enough, not only in terms of value for money, but also just how special it is. This is now our go-to place when we need a break away and we will be back very soon.

Due to a website glitch with our original choice of hotel, their loss was our gain when we switched hotels to Casa Mistela. The owners, John & Sonja, warmly greeted us at the door on our arrival and for the next eight days we were treated like family while duly graced with superb personal service throughout our stay. John & Sonja hail from Maastricht, with a lifetime of experience running customer-service businesses. And boy, does it show. Every square inch of this B&B is immaculate, as was our bedroom suite, which was as roomy and comfortable as you would find in any 4-star hotel. Each morning we would come down to a breakfast spread that would put other B&Bs to shame. The coffee and fresh orange juice is on tap, and the aroma of warm croissants, crisp baguettes (with scrambled eggs by request) was the best possible start to our day. Oh, one of many wonderful features is the first glimpse of warm sunrays that suddenly beam through the expansive skylight over the breakfast room each morning, signalling, it’s time to venture out for the day. Just a short walk away is the small village square, and only in Spain could you discover a magnificent church housing an interior commiserate with the scale and artistry of a grand cathedral (named Saint Maria). The Xalo valley itself is breathtaking and completely encircled by mountain views, which you can enjoy without having to scale steep mountain roads. No wonder the pro cyclists’ love this valley as a popular haven for sightseeing or training. As a keen cyclist himself, John had only recently discovered a small beach town called Javea (Xabia) only 20-km away. Our favourite beach town was Moraira. It’s simply beautiful. All in all, a fantastic trip to remember.

Al tweemaal een week verbleven in Casa Mistela (sept 2022 en sept 2023). De casa zelf is prachtig ingericht in Spaanse stijl, het is er schoon en de ligging is heerlijk, aan de rand van het idyllische dorpje Jalón. De eigenaren Sonja en John zijn fantastisch en de ontbijtjes zijn absurd lekker! Heerlijk je dat starten met een ontbijt in de tuin en daarna een plons in het zwembad. Jalón biedt de nodige eetgelegenheden en supermarkt en een winkel met een fijn aanbod voor glutenvrije en koemelkvrije producten (Eco plaza). Allemaal op loopafstand. Genoeg speeltuintjes in het dorp. Ook in de verdere omgeving heerlijke stranden te vinden die met de auto heel goed bereikbaar zijn en met kinderen ideaal (5 jaar en 2 jaar). Een hele dikke aanrader
