Sama Heights Resort

Too overpriced!! No Wi-Fi as in all Sama hotels. No mentioned pool. Breakfast was so poor A standard room gave me the sense of hostel but not a comfort Staff at reception and at restaurant was so friendly

The location of the resort is great, on top of the mountain. The buffet dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was nice, I enjoyed the Karac tea in the morning. Rooms are clean, nice and comfortable, big bathroom. There is a terrasse in front of the room with a bench. As the policy of the resort is "no wifi" anywhere, not even at reception, we decided to read before dinner, the darkness cold temperatures arrived quickly, so we decided to get inside the room to continue reading, however the light was not strong enough to read. There was a TV but all TVs don't work. So we waited patiently for dinner time. I would recommend to revise the policy of no wifi or add more lights in the room. Overall the experience was nice.

Pros: - Great location: beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, and a short (10 minutes or so) drive to the start of the Balcony Walk. - Nice of the staff to upgrade us to a stone chalet with a mountain view! - Buffet breakfast and dinner included. - Clean, quiet, comfortable room (stone chalet) with everything we needed. - Good playground for kids, and plenty of outdoor seating. - Peaceful setting.   Neutral: - The breakfast and dinner buffets were fine, I guess especially for being up in the mountains, but nothing to necessarily write home about. - The water in the shower took ages to get hot, so be sure to turn on the water heater as soon as you arrive if you want a hot shower at night. Cons: - There was no housekeeping (we stayed two nights). - We had to ask for toilet paper--even on the first day. Stayed two nights here with our toddler, and probably would stay again. It's up in the mountains, and even in mid-April it was a tad chilly at night (pants and a sweater were fine though, and the rooms come with space heaters, which we definitely used).

What a lovely and unique resort! The drive alone to get there is an adrenaline rush, and not for the faint of heart. The resort is built mostly local material. It has modern touches and amenities while seeming authentically Omani. The breakfast and dinner buffets that were included were excellent. Not a lot of selection but definitely enough, and considering how remote this location is everything was fresh and quite tasty. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The hotel's tagline is "Designed to Make Your Stay Magnificent" and they certainly lived up to it.

Beautifully located resort. Awake to the most serene and dramatic Mountain View that you can imagine on Jabal Shams, Oman highest peak. With close proximity to the breathtaking Balcony walk this is the perfect location to explore the upper reaches of Jabal Shams.

Stayed for two nights 18-20 Oct 2023 in of of the Sultan’s Tent and it was just magical. Tent is not only spacious but also offers a good shower and a very comfortable bed to rest after the long hikes. Found staff very kind and helpful from the front desk to the chefs. Trekking W6 & W4 start right from the front gate. A place to definitely go back.

This is a nice resort with clean, spacious cabins. The furniture is quite basic. The bathroom is clean and spacious. Staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is like any basic mountain resort. The buffet food is good, good choice both for dinners and breakfast

This was a lovely place - stayed in one of the individual stone built chalets (? lodges) with a lovely elevated terrace overlooking the main area with great views of the mountains. The room was huge and nicely furnished although a chair for sitting would’ve been useful. Some of the internal wall, including the bathroom were of stone too creating a nice effect. Tea making facilities etc provided. We ate breakfast and dinner in the dining room and both were good. We did the Balcony walk from the hotel early in the morning and having had a small amount of breakfast, returned for coffee and a bit more to eat. The staff were friendly.

This was a nice place to stay. In the mountains nearby the balkony walk. The cabin we had was oké. Nice bed and a lovely terras. There was a fridge. We loved our stay there. The room (cabin) of the boys was not so good. There was no window, just a hatch. The hole are was mixed with great maintanance and damaged things. The food was fine. The people in the restaurant where very friendly and the service was good. We had no house keeping, had to ask for clean towles (we stayed for 3 nights) and toiletpaper. Allthough there where points of improvement we had a great stay due to the people working there and the beautiful environment.
