I have recently returned from Bel Air staying with my mum and sister. My mixed feelings are mainly due to feeling that a small few aspects of the service here were what I would expect from a 3 star hotel rather than the 4 stars it is rated. LOCATION- excellent, beautiful views from hotel, bus stop or plenty taxis outside to get to the Old Town within 15mins. STAFF- hugely helpful and welcoming, even helped and joined in on celebrating mums birthday. There was generally only ever 1 person on a 2 person desk, this created a slow check in for us but I will assume it is fully staffed through the summer season. ROOMS- Immaculate and of good size. Kettle provided but no tea or coffee, must purchase your own, not what id expect. My sister had room 130, the balcony is overlooked by another room making this uncomfortable for each party where privacy is concerned, her shower had no curtain/guard so always soaked the bathroom. Our room 128, fabulous location and view, nice big balcony. FOOD/DRINK- I did get a little bored of the all inclusive selection after day 5 but overall it was of good quality and tasty. The sweet cream pie and french toast at breakfast time are delicious! Drinks are a good selection, would have liked a choice of cocktails by the pool, but they were available in the lobby bar. POOLS- Beautifully cleaned and maintained, the main pool has gorgeous views and if it is a little windy I can recommend the more sheltered small pool to relax where you can also get bar service. Most say the pools are cold, it is April, once you are in you will adjust, get in and enjoy! Plenty loungers. Beach towels are only changeable every second day which I understand is more economical but most 4 stars would be daily. ENTERTAINMENT- To my understanding, the entertainment team is larger in the summer however for April there was only one person and the programme was a little poor. Evening entertainment was repetitive although I did enjoy the typical party dance songs as that's my thing. Day time entertainment was not well advertised so many missed out. The entertainers attitude, behaviour and enthusiasm was not well valued by many of the other guests that we spoke to either. BEACH- Lounger and parasol are €5 a day. Not really many comfortable looking spots to park a beach towel if you don't want to pay. I swam in the sea almost daily which was lovely, some days a little rougher in April due to winds. I didnt use the gym, games room or spa so cannot comment. Overall, a big thank you to the Bel Air staff for a lovely stay, the staff here will make your stay <3
