Premier Inn Oban

Return visit to Oban and two night stay at the Premier Inn there. The hotel is very centrally located in the town, so handy for all modes of transport. We travelled by car, so the onsite parking is ideal. Still free to park but soon to introduce a £10/night charge. As always, the standard Premier Inn room was clean, comfortable and quiet. A warm welcome by the reception staff. We always look forward to the PI cooked buffet breakfast and it lived up to expectations, all beautifully cooked. Makes for the perfect start to the day and truly needed as the weather was cold, windy and wet during our stay in Oban. Premier Inn Oban recommended!

Premier Inn hotel is centrally located, easy to find, with adequate parking on site (which which we found to be a rarity)! Our room was clean and comfortable. We were a short walk away from many restaurant and pubs. We would definitely stay here again when in Oban.

We recently stayed for three nights at the Premier Inn in Oban. The hotel itself is ideally located for a short walk in to the town centre. Our room was very clean, and the hotel honored our request for a ground floor room. The staff at this Premier Inn is great, especially Lucas and Florentina. They were both very friendly and eager to help us. We had to get extra towels, and it was no problem. Top marks to the staff. We did have one meal at the PI. We had the smothered chicken (No, that wasn't a live chicken being smothered!), which was quite tasty. We did not order breakfast, as neither of us eats enough in the morning to justify the cost. Instead, we opted to get breakfast sandwiches and drinks at the nearby Tesco. Breakfast for two for less than six pounds! On our other nights in Oban, we had sandwiches once again, and excellent fish and chips from Norie's. Parking at the PI in Oban is a real problem. The car park is very small, and the only option if you can't park there (we couldn't) is to street park. That involves having to be at your car prior to 9:00 a.m. and having to either a) move the car, or b) pay to park. We understand that a week after our stay, the hotel was initiating a ten pound per day charge to park in their car park. Much as we'd like to stay at the PI again, due to its proximity to the ferry terminals for Easdale, Lismore, and Kerrera, we will probably try to find other accommodation in Oban. Despite the fact that the hotel is extremely convenient and comfortable, the charge for parking and the inconvenience of street parking makes it a no-go for us.

I really wish I had read the reviews ! Booked for 3 nights in a premier plus room, plus more grief it must mean ! Check in is from 3pm and is self service with only one terminal working so there was a massive queue with a staff member showing people how to use the check in machine , why not just have a proper check in desk with a human being and stagger the check in times ? Oh you can book in earlier but you need to pay £10 extra ! So the pluses I was getting were this , a very small space for 2 peoples clothes , a TV rigged so that you cannot attach a fire-stick to and also pre set so that you cannot increase the volume either !a pre programmed wifi password which no staff knew the password for so I couldn’t use Alexa either ! Bayliss & Harding products ! The bottles were empty and the holders strapped to the wall incase of theft were all rust ! Bath was mouldy , carpet all stained , only one towel and hand towel left for 2 people ! Reception was seldom available to highlight these things ! When I went down to ask for the password for the TV so that I could use the fire-stick I had to keep pressing the buzzer , eventually some guy appeared from a side room & said the password was 0000 I told him I had already used that , shrugged his shoulders so what was the point in complaining about anything else ! No phones in the rooms to contact reception but nobody ever at reception so forcing you to go back down to look for someone ! Oh and if you are staying more than one night you need to let reception know before 11am every morning that you want your room serviced ? Surely they would know you need clean towels , loo roll etc ! Just lazy or cost cutting take your pick !! Only positive is that the breakfast was nice ! Management really needs to come and have a look at the way this hotel is being run ! It is not customer friendly , just very badly organised and the simple things they are getting very wrong ! Also the very very small window with a cheap curtain , I’m sure cornton vale even have bigger windows ! I’m still here if any Senior manager or even the owner wants to contact me ! I should have booked for 1 night and then gone somewhere decent !

The room was booked for 2 people and it was noted it was on the 3rd floor, the best offerings! The room was shabby, only one set of towels, no room information..how to operate heating etc, no hotel contact information, no emergency information, the bottom sheet was one foot short of the bottom of the bed with an exceptionally rough edge which caught our feet, only 2 odd pillows..one flat and one spongy!, no additional blanket if needed and no netting on window leaving the room open to the view of the opposite Police Station when curtains open. Paper was away from the wall. On requiring to contact reception regarding issues, we had to phone externally as there was no phone in the room. We hung up after it was ringing out for some time. The man at reception was unable to help and suggested speaking with the head housekeeper the next day. There was nobody about at reception the next morning around breakfast, nor when we got back before dinner, or around dinner! We were leaving the next morning so didn’t waste any more of our time. The restaurant was busy for dinner on night 2 with a couple of groups, 5 folk. We, along with others, waited a ridiculous time for starters and desserts let alone main meals. The waitress said the meals are frozen and pre prepared which led to patrons chatting about the length of time it was taking to be served! It was a very disappointing stay and not one we’ll be rushing to repeat. The staff we encountered were nice but there was a severe lack of management. The contact issue in the room was not acceptable!! Without a mobile phone..which didn’t get any answer anyway..there is no way of getting help to your room or alerting anyone.

Lovely clean hotel , central to middle of Oban . Easy walking distance to town . Quiet even though it’s next door to railway and ferry terminal. Comfortable stay. Restaurant was clean , plenty choice and staff were lovely . Would recommend. Vending machines and extra tea coffee in foyer .

Smooth checkin. Seems to be a pretty new building, as everything was shiny and spotless. Superior room was excellent, with decent space and pristine bathroom. There were snacks and beverages including a smart coffee machine. Minor problem was that only one lift was functional. Apparently, it worked fine till recently serviced, now "tempermental"! Generic, but decent, breakfast in dining area/bar. Bar had limited range, and only one beer on tap. I wouldn't have elected for Coors. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Excellent value stay.

Just back from a weekend away to Premier inn Oban, can't fault it , didn't seem much staff working but had no issues , ate in the Thyme restaurant for dinner and breakfast , dinner was good but the breakfasts were exceptional ! , something there for everybody, loads of selection, well done ! , hotel was lovely and clean and warm and cosy and we were blessed with the sun shining all weekend so all in all we had a great time We booked another holiday for November but have since cancelled as they now charge 10 pounds a day to park your car in their car park !!!!, have been coming up to the Premier inn since it opened but alas that will not be happening anymore !
