The Cluanie Inn

The hotel itself is in an absolutely beautiful and remote area. The landscape around is gorgeous and full of wildlife. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning walk to see the sunrise over the mountains and the stags that were just outside our window. The dinner and breakfast options were great. The venison was good and so was the tandoori pizza. The room itself was fine, although we got basically no sleep. The walls are paper thin and you will be able hear every footstep in the hall as well your neighbor snoring. Even earplugs did not block the noise through the walls. If you can put up with the lack of sleep, I would recommend a night or two here!

We stopped in for a drink after a day on the hills. We now wish we'd driven by. Beer is 7.50 -- yes, seven pounds fifty -- a pint, including, according to my receipt, a 10% service charge which does not appear to be optional. Service was very slow (just one barman and the place was pretty full) and even then our order was wrong. There are petrol pumps too, but 30p -- thirty -- more per litre than 25 miles up the road in Invergarry or Glenmoriston.

This was my first visit to The Cluanie for a meal since it was taken over by Black Shhep Hotels. I was pleased to find friendly staff and a variety of dishes on the menu. I had a more traditional beef stew and mash, it was extremely tasty and a good size portion with plenty of meat. My husband had chicken tikka pizza, again it was large and tasty. I was pleased to hear they serve until 2100, many businesses stop at 2000 or even 1930 in this region. Others have commented on the prices. It's not cheap, but prices have gone up everywhere in recent years and bearing in mind the stunning and remote location not unreasonable. Coffee in the Landour bakehouse was pricey though (£4.25). The atmosphere is different from the past, and in many ways it is a shame that the business is less traditional. That's no reason not to visit though. It is still a good place for a meal in a fantastic location and I will be back.

Stopped here for something to eat while passing and food was alright, albeit very quite pricey. Came to pay to find a pint of IPA was £7.50, yep seven pounds fifty so got stung for £15 for a couple of pints. While I checked the price of food, this is all about ripping people off. Not good.

Absolute disgrace. The business uses their backyard as a tip. Deers are walking amongst this, and they have absolutely no care whatsoever to preserve nature. I have tried to contact them however they completely ignored my concerns. Additionally the meals are over priced and tasteless.

A disgrace. Lost its authenticity and now utterly overpriced and catering to mass tourism. So sad what has happened to the Cluanie inn under the current ownership. It used to be a great place to go after a day in the mountains - warm and welcoming, a great pint and food. The new owners have ruined the place and only seem interested in extracting as much money from people.

Professional and courteous staff and spacious and clean room. The hotel is really nicely decorated though was somewhat lacking in atmosphere but this may have been because it was quiet. Breakfast was good. Overall would stay again, the location is beautiful and the bonus of the stags at the back of the hotel was a lovely surprise. Can attest to the other reviews though .. it is indeed £7.50-£8 a pint 😢

I popped in here a couple of times, just for some respite after a couple of day's on the mountains, the place has been done up really nice, looks very clean..the staff are nice enough too..the prices of just about everything is way over what you'd expect to pay though, you do expect to pay more in the Highlands but this seems more like daylight robbery

The staff were accommodating and friendly enough. We asked for tap water for the drinks that were served lukewarm, we have the nicest water in Scotland that costs nothing to serve cold. We ordered the pizza and asked for half curry half margarita and were informed it would be full-price of the dearest pizza topping, enough I guess. It was a tasty pizza and they kindly let us take away what we didn't eat. The quesadilla was a bit greasy, and bland. Not enough dips and not worth the hefty price paid. I get that it is a rural setting but prices are expensive for what you get and automatically adding on a service charge isn't okay. I had a tip waiting to be left on the table (that was more than the service charge) but on nothing the automatic charge didn't leave the tip. It should be at a customer's discretion based on service and quality of food. The food was expensive enough without adding more on. Apparently, it's known as having a reputation of being the Harrods Cafe of the Highlands due to the extortionate prices.
