It's potable water but bring bottled water in case tap water is not your preference -- lots of minerals. I cook and wash with it, but drink bottled water only.The stairway and door constitute a private entry. It is in a condominium building with others around.The balcony is medium-sized but runs flush against the next-door neighbor's with no privacy fencing in between.
