The Hotel Maria

The Hotel Maria is a brand new, opened in December 2023, 5-star luxury hotel. Clearly aiming, and currently succeeding, to be the best hotel in Helsinki. What makes The Hotel Maria such a unique and special experience at the moment is the level of service. I am genuinely impressed by how this team is managed. Maria clearly has an ownership or management that prioritizes high-level personal service, something very rare around these parts of the world. I honestly commend them for the effort to staff the hotel at a high density and find and train the talent to execute a great level of service. The staff is friendly, attentive, courteous, and very professional whilst maintaining a personal connection. During our visit, we had both special requests and a personal celebration, and the staff really went the extra mile to acknowledge and accommodate us. I've seen ultra luxury hotels struggle at less. The property is built to the highest standard, and even with a basic category room, our room was well-appointed with a separate seating area and a massive bathroom with a bathtub. There are very few rooms per floor so we found it to be very quiet. Construction is still going on during the daytime, and only one of the three buildings with guest rooms are currently open. The location is in central Helsinki but slightly off from the main center in a more quiet but upscale area with some decent restaurants around. The main amenity of the hotel is the aptly named Maria spa. It’s a luxurious and well-sized hotel spa with a lounge pool, a larger hot-tub, a cold-plunge pool, and both wet and dry saunas. There’s also a striking relax area with a spa-bar built-in under a glass atrium covering the former courtyard. From my one experience staying here so far, Maria easily outperforms its closest competitors (Kämp or St:George). As such, I’d say it’s a very interesting addition to the Helsinki hotel scene, and I’m excited to see if they can maintain this high level of service and how their competitors will react. We dined at Hotel Maria Garden Terrace and took a tour of hotel checking some of their rooms. Beautiful old building (officers quarters) renovated to high standard. Service is polite and attentive. Very calm atmosphere. Rooms are different sizes but all high-quality and fine attention to details. Rooms have big beds and toilets (many with bathtub and some with sauna). Downstairs has one fine dining area, bar and. Garden terrace restaurant. They also have nice looking spa. There is an annex of the hotel that is still being built.

Exquisite hotel in Helsinki. Beautiful accommodations and excellent staff. The cocktails are some of the best in the city. The spa offered relaxing and innovative treatments, leaving you pampered. This hotel is also interesting from a historical perspective and has a rich history.

This hotel has the best service in town! The staff everywhere was truly kind and helpful with a right touch of humour as well to make us feel important. We stayed one night in Junior Spa Suite in February. Our suite had a really good Finnish sauna. The suite and bathroom were spacious, bed was comfortable and the style was beautiful. The old building has been renovated very well into a luxury hotel. Food was also good, we had dinner at Garden Terrace. Also the spa has a good Finnish sauna and a nice relaxing area. We can recommend Hotel Maria!

They treated us like royalty! The room was amazing with our own sauna. The bed was extremely comfortable and the music and lighting in the room was very relaxing. Hotel Marias states that the “goal is to apply for a Green Key certification” goal is good but actions could be done right away. Nowadays it is very common in Finland to have recycling in the rooms with at least three bins combined (Bio, Plastic, Other) Some hotels even have metal bin near the reception. Also there could be options for more sustainable food in the breakfast. The price / Luxury rate is not met and the view and the area is dull, but the staff was very very good and extremely clean. 😊

Amazing hotel with wonderful staff and service. We stayed two nights on separate visits and were lucky enough to experience the luxury of two different suites. This is proper five star quality in terms of comfort, space and style. The standard of bedding, bathroom and decor is exceptional. The staff went above and beyond on both occasions (Flávio especially!) Beautiful public spaces, artwork, bar and restaurants all added to the experience

Literally the best hotel in Helsinki. We were amazed by the hospitality and hotels amenities. Everything was just perfet, truly a 5 star hotel! ❤️ Definitely coming back! The room, the staff , the spa, the restaurant’s - I have to say that everything was perfect. I can’t wait to come back! Special thanks to the cleaning lady who prepared our room for a good night’s sleep. We felt we were taked care of and had the best sleep. I wish that spa visits were unlimited, because I love my morning sauna. Still i did visit spa twice and for free in the morning, because all i needed was 15 min sauna and a cold pool dip. :) Next time we will take higer class rooms as ours didn’t have a bath so we couldn’t order bath rituals in the room. Oh and i almost forgot - inhouse radio?! Which we could change through ipad! Are you kidding me? I loved it!!!! 😍
