Stayed just the one night . Room clean ,bed comfy , nice powerfull hot shower . Had superb evening meal and lovely full English breakfast in the pub . Staff especially that we're on for breakfast , happy and friendly . Was asked if everything was ok for each meal . Would book again next BSB race . Thank you for excellent stay .

We stayed just one night as going to a birthday party locally. It was just an easy, hassle-free stay. Friendly owner. We didn't have time to use the pub or restaurant but it all looked good and reasonable prices. Our room was comfortable, well equipped and very well priced. Parking was easy and we felt safe leaving luggage in the car as we had arrived from a longer trip elsewhere. Would definitely recommend.

Room 1 was desperately in need of refurbishment. Very scruffy. Smoking station for staff directly outside. Wouldn’t stay here again unless in a refurbished room. Breakfast OK. Good location. Room serviced every two days - no facilities to dry towels meant damp towels on second day.

Room spacious but a little tired ie holes in curtains and bathroom needed a big update as things missing on wall and holes everywhere. Good shower and was very clean but didn't like half used toilet paper left that's a bit naff. Good little t.v and coffee/tea caddy. Beds really comfortable and room very quiet considering so near main road. Breakfast lovely and very generous Staff in pub lovely and had a good atmosphere and decor. Shame the rooms didn't have same feelings.

We stayed over for a night on a golfing visit. The staff here are great. Very welcoming and friendly. There is a large car park behind the accommodation, which is separate to the pub itself - much like Premier Inns set up, with a better pub and but not so good accommodation. The pub was clean and tidy with good atmosphere, good food and very good beers. The Trailblazer stout was as good as Guinness. The accommodation was ok, just a bit tired around the edges, or at least my room was. It was comfortable enough though for the money.

From signing in at reception, the rooms and food was excellent. The only negative I can offer is, as a group of friends we were attending the Aintree festival on the Friday, along with a high level of other guests attending too, the Cat and Lion missed an excellent opportunity to enhance their hospitality by not opening the bar until 12 noon. Upon getting changed and meeting in the beer garden at 10.30 prior to our transport arriving at 11.30 we were expecting to be able to get refreshments but instead just had to wait around for an hour. This is the 17th year we've been attending and for the previous 16 years staying at two different hotels (one for 13 years closed down and the other for the previous 3 years making a booking error) meant we had to seek alternative accomodation this year for our two night stay. Disappointing, especially as I'm sure a more personal touch could have been added especially when they knew they had over 20 guests, male and female waiting outside for some time. 😥

I had been staying here every weekend from February up until last weekend due to a house fire. I was solo but felt extremely safe and looked after. Beautifully clean rooms and most importantly crisp sheets and towels! The staff in the pub are all fantastic; friendly, welcoming and warm. The food was top notch to. Recommended to all far and wide 👌

This is everything you want in a conveniently located country pub. Very well run by people who care about it and are there to support you. Super comfortable and clean accommodation attached to the pub with good food and a fine range of beverages, including very well kept cask ale. Exceeded expectations on all levels.
