The view from our room was spectacular. The room was spacious, bed comfortable, shower great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were delicious.The pillows were good especially the super soft one. Loved the Japanese style toilet. Heated pool and spa facilities available although not used by us this time.

The best place we stayed in New Zealand. Fabulous unique tree house with amazing views, everything was perfect. Excellent service, terrific food. They even accommodated our dietary restrictions beautifully. Yes, it's pricey, but we wish we could have stayed longer.

Hapuku Lodge is placed near Kaikura, where you have to go and book whale watching. The Lodge is fantastic, very tastily furnished and has a heated pool and some spa treatment. Our room was huge and had all necessary facilities. For me outstanding was the japanese bath tub. Food met the expectations, the service was outstanding from arrival to check out. A big thank you to all who made us feel very wellcome and at home

Really first class lodge and treehouses with great attention to detail, friendly and attentive staff and wonderful food. We stayed in one of the treehouses and it was superb, the only comment I would have being that the three flights of stairs to get up there were always fun, but I guess the clue’s in the name! Thoroughly recommended

Wow! What an amazing place to stay. From the accommodation to the food to the service it was exceptional. Firstly, the tree houses are a haven to stay in Kaikoura. Don’t let the words tree house fool you. They are equipped beautifully and have amazing views over the countryside. From arriving at reception to leaving the staff were superb. Nothing was too much to ask. We had an early morning boat trip booked. They took our breakfast order the night before and it was ready waiting when the restaurant opened. Dinner was delicious and the menu personalised to dietary requirements. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed two nights at this magnificent lodge—in a high tech two bedroom tree house! The location is amazing—chicken and sheep and olive trees. The meals were gourmet five star prepared in an open kitchen with meticulous detail and fresh ingredients. The staff is attentive to every detail. Benny showed us every amenity and took no shortcuts to make sure we were welcome. He even prepared a three page handwritten note of suggested stops and activities for the rest of our South Island drive. And then—I left my hat behind I guess in the room—-and I received an email and they express mailed it to my next hotel! Another example of a kind team who deliver expert hospitality. So if you are whale watching or fishing in Kaikōura—- stay in innovative kind luxury at the Hapuku Lodge.

Unusual and extremely comfortable. Was like an upmarket family home with wonderful suite, spa and pool. Restaurant had excellent fresh food although dinner was pretentious with too many combined flavours. Staff were extremely helpful and snxious to please.

We absolutely loved our stay here in two tree houses. The views are spectacular and the rooms were fabulous. We loved the bath and shower open to the stunning views. The dinner was delicious- so accommodating to our dietary requirements. Staff were lovely and very friendly. They provided an excellent picnic breakfast because we were whale watching. A tiny ****** would be that they could have more loungers by the pool. However, that’s a small ****** and this is a genuinely exceptional place to stay.

Beautiful property and accommodations. Remote and tranquil setting very close to activities in Kaikoura. Cuisine was great and staff friendly and helpful. I do have to mention our new friend Benny. In addition to amazing service in the dining room, he provided trip highlights and recommendations for the remainder of our travels throughout NZ. Every recommendation was perfect and enhanced our trip. He out did our travel consultants! Thank you Benny!
