We needed to stay overnight in Gudvangen during our recent trip to Norway before next morning Naeroyfjord cruise. For tourists travelling without a car, the choice of accommodation here is very limited to Fjordtell Hotel, Gudvangen Budget Hotel and possibly a campsite about 1.5 km away. All of them expensive. We settled for the Budget Hotel for one night. Being a budget hotel, we had some concerns of what to expect, especially when we got a notification to check in at the Fjordtell. The Budget Hotel proved to be an excellent choice. What a nice surprise! The room was spacious, had private bathroom, TV and a kitchenette. There was also a nice patio with two chairs to sit and admire the view. Staying for such a short time we did not take advantage of the kitchen, but for a little longer stays it could be handy, and there is a store nearby. Gudvangen is a very small town and not much to see here except Viking Village. But the great scenery and general remoteness feel is very unique and worth spending night there. The bathroom was a bit small, but not an issue. The bed was comfortable. Overall great choice. Highly recommended.
