I was one of the unfortunate group who were booked out to this hotel for a conference at the Cedar Court Hotel. We were told this was a superior hotel, but that is far from the truth. Tired, grubby, and in need of a lot of TLC the hotel rooms and corridors are very far from the plush spa and nice restaurant/bar area (assume these have been renovated). The blind in the room cuts out no daylight, so don’t expect to sleep after sunrise if you are a light sleeper. The shower has no power, and you slip around in the grubby bath as the “tread” has worn off. There are marks and chips everywhere, the carpet is sticky in places (very threadbare in the public areas) and weird marks on the walls. Breakfast is basic, especially when the Chef is not informed that the hotel has agreed to start service 30 minutes early at the weekend, a fact that also seemed to have passed the Duty Manager when checking the following evening. I did manage to get a room at Cedar Court in the end, which is freshly refurbished with a large comfy bed, hot power shower, TV you can see from the bed, and curtains to cut out light and noise. I think many of the reviews on here refer to the restaurant, weddings, or spa, not the actual hotel.
