La Fontaine Boutique Hotel by the Oyster Collection

A treasure of a hotel that we cannot wait to visit again! Not having been recommended this hotel, i was a little worried that the ones I had booked will turn out to be terrible. But the reviews were good and the photos were lovely! However, once we arrived, we quickly realised, this hotel was going to much, much more than we expected! We were greeted with lovely big smiles, and asked if we needed any help with booking trips out. Once in our room, which was stunning, we settled in. You’re greeted with a “Welcome Home” every time we’d been out which I loved! It really had a homely feel to it. The staff cannot do enough for you. They have a big living room, which we used to go and play cards and have a drinks. We loved doing this. Which for us is odd, as we usually just shut ourselves away. We don’t usually allow anybody into our room as we have trust issues with hotel staff (from previous holiday abroad). But we didn’t here. We felt so safe and knew we would be really looked after here. Rooms - Big wonderful beds with buttery soft sheets! It was cold when we arrived, and although they have heating and was lovely and toastie, they still came in every night to put a hot water bottle in the beds. Staff- So helpful, welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Made great drinks and always happy to chat. Breakfast - Yummy! You can choose what cold breakfast you would like. (Fruit, cereals, breads etc) and then order something hot. All were delicious and well presented. You can have the smoothly of the day as well teas, coffees or juices. My husband was celebrating his Birthday while at the hotel and I had mentioned this to them. On the morning of his Birthday we came down to breakfast to a wonderful surprise of chocolate cake and Buck’s Fizz. The generosity of everybody here is so touching and we were so sad to leave. We have both said that when we come back to South Africa, we would rather stay here then go to Cape Town. I really cannot rate this wonderful hotel highly enough! Don’t hesitate to go, you’ll fall in love with it, just like we did.

What an incredible place to stay. From the moment we checked in until we checked out we were dazzled by this magical guest house. Firstly the staff are so kind, they make you feel like part of the family. They are so knowledgeable about the area and happy to offer advice etc. Secondly our bedroom, we felt that we could stay here forever. It was so comfortable, beautiful and we had a wonderful nights sleep. The food and drink experience was stunning, food was gorgeous, staff kept checking if we had enough or needed extras. This place is honestly one of the best places we have ever stayed and we would 100% return and will recommend to everyone Thank you 😀

We received a very warm welcome. The fabric of the place may not be 100% but the staff more than make up for it. Super service from all. Special thanks to the team who kept the log burner is the bar stoked and the chef who has created amazing non-egg based breakfasts. Oour room was large and had a log burner. The bed was huge and comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. There are two pools one heated (we didn’t use as it was really quite chilly). Afternoon cake available and very tasty. The staff arranged restaurant bookings and provided sightseeing advice. Thank you Kim and team we had a lovely stay and I highly recommend this hotel

Fabulous boutique guest house in a great location. Really close to lots of nice restaurants and tram to explore the various vineyards. We loved everything about this guest house from decor to breakfast but the stand for us was Kim and her fabulous team, always there to help you with a smile. We would highly recommend La Fontaine!! We didn’t want to leave.

We recently stayed at La Fontaine for our honeymoon and we could not have been happier with our decision to stay at this lovely boutique hotel whilst in Franschhoek! Our room was incredible, spacious, beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, and with a breathtaking mountain view from the terrace. The rest of the hotel was also decorated to an amazing standard, with lots of charming pieces of decor and beautiful gardens and pool area, and the breakfast was also delicious. In addition to all that, the team at the hotel were just wonderful! Everyone was warm, welcoming and went above and beyond to help us with any query including vineyard recommendations, tram bookings, and even arranging an early breakfast for us with our early check out! We really loved our stay here and were very sad to leave, thank you to all the team for their hard work and for making our stay so great.

We spent a wonderful two nights at La Fontaine, where Kim and her fabulous staff could not do enough to make our stay super special. I travelled with my husband and two adult sons and both our rooms were comfy, with great facilities. Teas , coffees and biscuits in the rooms were appreciated, as (in particular) were the vegan alternatives also provided for one of my sons. The breakfasts were delicious, with lots of choices for all of us. The hotel is really well located, just off the main street, within easy walking distance of the restaurants and shops etc. Prior to our arrival Kim had suggested some of her favourite restaurants and we enjoyed her recommendations. It was great to have the welcoming bar and lounge area and we also enjoyed relaxing in the gardens. We would recommend La Fontaine to all and wouldn't consider anywhere else if we are back in the area.

This guest house is a gem in a great location. One block off the Main Street. Very quiet and beautiful- we had the Mountain View suite and it was great- beautiful views with a huge deck. Comfy bed and great AC. Welcomed with a glass of bubbly for me and a beer for my husband. The bar area was very cool and they arranged a mobile mani.pedi that was excellent. Breakfast was your choice- buffet or order food- we did both and were not disappointed. Staff are very helpful. Provided a very safe running route for me. Definitely will return- 5 star experience.

THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER when you visit this utterly stunning boutique hotel situated in one of the most charming towns imaginable. Another review from two Scottish travellers is perhaps unnecessary and even redundant. All the foregoing critiques say it all. 5 star? No, 6 star is far more appropriate. This beautiful old colonial type house is complemented by a staff of the highest quality who go out of their way to give guests a distinctive lasting memory. Set back slightly from the main street this is the most welcoming hotel I think I've stayed in. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel like old friends. For Kim and her team nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable, set amongst beautiful, peaceful gardens. The breakfasts were amazing, I particularly recommend the brie and mushroom tartine. Offers of refreshments and great recommendations for where to eat were always on hand. Even a toasted cheese and ham sandwich and a refreshing lemonade when we had over indulged on the Wine Tram (thank you very much Morne) Their wealth of knowledge of the surrounding area made deciding what do much easier. Due to storms while we stayed in Cape Town we missed out on Robben Island and Table Mountain. An eagle eye was kept on the weather and Juan took us on a day trip, being our personal driver for the day even adding a couple of things to our itinerary. I should also give a special mention to Aubrey,(thank you for your evening chats) Cecelia, Ashley and Franklyn who also made our stay so relaxing and enjoyable along with the many staff who work behind the scenes. PS. Take the bikes out. Its great fun
