Travelodge Fort William

There is a free parking lot but it isn't large enough for the guests. We went out for a bit and came back and couldn't get a space, the person at the front desk was rude ("I don't run this hotel so not responsible for your problems"), they sent us to an paid (10 pound) parking lot that was much too far away (had to walk 5 min up a hill), they said it cost a fraction of what it actually did. Room was smelly, sink backed up while we were there. Just an awful experience, ruined our stay in Fort William (otherwise a nice town)

Excellent stay—aside from a minor water leak in the toilet, everything else was perfect. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for the best.

Enjoyed a lovely few days at this travel lodge. The attentive staff polite and courteous. The room was clean tidy with a big comfy bed and squashy pillows- luxury. Slept like a baby !

We booked a family room (two adults, two children) at Travelodge Fort William weeks in advance for 5–6 August 2025. The £257 booking was confirmed and paid in full. When we arrived at around 21:30, staff avoided us for 10 minutes before finally admitting the hotel had oversold rooms and we had no accommodation. Despite acknowledging the problem, they failed to secure any alternative after more than two hours of “trying.” Just before midnight (!!!), an Airbnb at £1,400 per night was mentioned but the only suggestion was that I should book it myself with a verbal promise of reimbursement — but no written confirmation was ever given. At nearly 2:00 am, they simply refunded the booking and sent us away with nowhere to go. With no other hotels or rentals available in town, we were forced to spend the night in our car, with two young children crying in the back seat. This ruined the rest of our holiday and left us physically exhausted and emotionally drained for days. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic customer care was shocking. I strongly advise avoiding this hotel if you value reliability and respectful treatment.

I stayed here after deciding to stay on in Fort William for an extra day and the Premier Inn had no rooms available at check out, so we moved to the Travelodge for one night. The cost was 222 for a family room however it was clearly a double that has been used as a family room. It was very small and cramped which the receptionist commented on themselves as there was also a bed missing from the room and there was hardly enough room for 1 adult and 2 children and I bumped into the bed a couple of times. The room was also not sound proofed and there were people coming and going until 2am and the people above sounded like they were coming through the ceiling. The bathroom was small with no lock on the bathroom door and was very basic. The receptionist attempted to move us but there was no other rooms left. This is a 2 star hotel charging 4 star prices because it is in a tourist location in the Highlands in August. I have stayed in another Travelodge in Scotland for a third of the price and the amenities were better there. Unfortunately this hotel is overpriced and underdelivers and unless you are planning to be out at the pubs all night you are unlikely to get a restful sleep. The children's bed was also very uncomfortable and hard. The only pros are location and proximity to the high street which probably suit adults without children better. Otherwise it's beside a pub restaurant and the noise is too much internally and externally to get much peace especially for people with young children, especially in hot weather and the room is humid and needs windows to be open. I would not recommend this hotel and I have been overcharged by around 100 pounds for what was essentially a double with a pull down bed and cot squeezed in. I would have asked for a refund when I left but there was never anyone on reception to ask. The receptionist was helpful and friendly and the situation was outwith his control however this hotel chain are asking for too much money for the basic standard of rooms and are taking advantage of tourists having a lack of choice of accommodation in the area. I will not be staying at a Travelodge again after this and it reflects similar experiences in other Travelodges in the past, so it is clearly a Travelodge issue.
