Elk Cove Inn & Spa

We have been visiting elk Cove in for about 40 years. There have been several different innkeepers throughout that time. Melissa and Victor have owned the place for a couple of years and have made some wonderful improvements, including a little farm for the restaurant food, upgraded accommodations. Beautiful gardens while maintaining the idyllic charm. It’s situated on a beautiful Cliff overlooking a cove with a path to the beach. Our room had a beautiful view – even a shower overlooking Cove. The farm to Dinner made by Victor is as good as any amazing destination restaurant you could imagine. And the breakfast made to order by Ricky is fantastic with fresh eggs from their chickens and homemade hot croissants. We first found this place in a book called the most romantic places in northern California, and it’s still is!

The most breathtaking view from every suite or cottage of the Gunderson Rock in a cove in the Pacific Ocean. Our suite was roomy and all the extra touches, from coffee to champagne to chocolate were provided. The room service breakfasts were excellent, gourmet food. We were able to enjoy the beach by walking down, by sitting on our balcony, or by just looking out the window. The dinners at the Cibo Restaurant provided top quality, local ingredients that was expertly prepared. The truly stress-busting vacation.

This place is amazing. The views, rooms, meals, and customer service are all outstanding. Dinner was one of the best dinners we ever had. The included breakfast was absolutely yummy. It is a caring, cozy, friendly environment that makes for a great romantic getaway. I highly recommend it.

A hidden gem just south of Mendocino , Elk Cove Inn is our favorite place on the Northern CA coast. The views are incredible, but what really makes it special is how at home the owners Melissa and Victor make you feel during your stay. Breakfast in the room is such a treat as you watch the waves roll onto the beach below, and dinner is exceptional with all of our favorite French dishes like Cassoulet, Coq au Vin, and Boeuf Bourguignon.

Beautiful rooms, stunning views, lovely landscapes and excellent food. Our hosts were just attentive enough and available if needed. Two couples had a great and memorable time. Chef Victor is an army of one, producing beautiful food that satisfies.

Great spot. Lovely views, homey accommodations, tasty food and friendly team. We had two nights here and really enjoyed ourselves. Will plan to come back in the future. This is also a really nice time of year to be in this part of the world. Enjoyed it!

Lovely owners, staff and four wonderful dogs! Sam McCanse Room had a great view and was very comfortable. We enjoyed Victor's exceptional cooking and Melissa's wine knowledge. Direct access to beach was appreciated for beachcoming. Navarro State Beach and Manchester State Beach were easy drives. Wish we had taken the formal property tour and that we'd brought dog treats!

The staff is so friendly. The rooms have little extras such as a bottle of wine. There were extra blankets to keep you warm if you sat outside. I actually used mine inside, while enjoying watching the ocean. A short walk to the beach or town. The breakfast was very good, some items homemade. When you arrive the tv is playing soft music with the fireplace on. Love this place!

I thought I'd treat myself to a weekend break in Elk. After a long but amazing drive from San Jose and a super friendly check-in, I was treated to much needed complimentary chocolate and a little carafe of port! Just what I needed. There's a beautiful beach just a few minutes walk away. It might be a bit of a tricky walk for some, but well worth it. I was lucky enough to have a cute little cottage room that overlooked the beach and provided an amazing view of Elk Rock. There's a lovely feeling of calm and the hotel gardens are full of amazing flora. Oh! And there are dogs - friendly and happy to show some affection. I was already happy enough, but the best was yet to come. When I was there, Elk Cove Inn had arranged a "winemaker's dinner". We (the guests) were treated to champagne and cocktails before a truly amazing meal with hand-picked wines for each course. It was lovely to share a meal with the other guests (I was traveling solo), chatting, eating, and generally enjoying life. I felt sad to leave - the staff, the ambience, and the location are all fabulous. Thank you!
