Gleneagles Townhouse

Coming down from Gleneagles in October 2023, we opted this time for the Gleneagles Townhouse and not the Balmoral - big mistake. Coming with a rental car it all starts with unloading, no parking space etc. The room was small but the price big. Complicated to get to the room, would not like to be there in case of a fire!! The Spence is a big deception, the service staff chatted to each other, avoided eye contact with clients - they could ask for something. The food choice as meagre as the portions - nothing to become obese. The breakfast, slow and small. The only highlight was the location and the room of the Spence. As regular overseas visitors to Scotland, this was the only time we were staying at the Gleneagles Town House.

Decor and ambience was excellent, service, acceptable but not brilliant, food, well presented but pretty tastless and very overpriced. There is some work to do here to get the quality of the food commensurate with the price but would definitely give it a second chance.

This was our second visit to Gleneagles townhouse after visiting for the first time last October. On our last visit we were really disappointed by the service, however there has been a HUGE improvement since then. We went yesterday for the Brunch Club and had a wonderful time - the service was truly exceptional, and the food was delicious. I am currently pregnant and despite not being able to eat / drink all that was on offer, the server and chef made sure I had a special experience.

Very disappointing breakfast at Gleneagles Townhouse today. Substantially more expensive than the average good breakfast, but the whole thing felt a bit stingy!! We ordered tea for two, and that's exactly what we got, two tiny teapots with only enough for 1 cup each (each pot costing £4). The full cooked breakfast was crammed onto a plate that was far too small - the waitress dropped some of the bacon off the side of my plate as she laid it on the table (not her fault!!) Also crammed onto the side of the plate was a very small piece of toast, with no butter or dedicated knife provided. The bacon was streaky (not what you'd expect of a five-star hotel) and the potato scone was clearly not freshly cooked as it was hard and crispy. When I asked for butter and marmalade for my toast, I was provided with three small dishes of delicious jam, lemon curd and marmalade, but I only had a small slice of toast (less than10cm square), which by now was hard and cold, and no butter knife!! The table was also very small so it was difficult to fit everything on it and we didn't even have side plates. All in all a very uncomfortable, ungenerous and disappointing experience!! Gleneagles Townhouse needs to do better!!

Superb Sunday lunch with family at the Spence Food and service were exceptional. Many thanks to Jamie and Jack for looking after us so well. Loved the Baked Alaska! This was a return visit and ambience was great - what is the lovely smell in the hallway?

I stayed here for a weekend to enjoy the Fringe. This stands as one of the fanciest hotel rooms I have had the pleasure of staying in. I had a nook room, which, despite its name, was quite spacious. The bedroom was very well presented and comfy, and the bathroom was a particular favourite of mine and will provide inspiration for my furture interior decorating aspirations. The only drawback of the room was because of the building's architecture; there was only one window in the bedroom, which meant there was very little natural light. However, this was not an issue for me as I did not really spend any daylight hours in the room. Breakfast in the Spence was also very lovely, with generous portions and unbelievable decor. Will certainly return
