Kasa University Medical Center Durham

The apar**ent we rented for our stay in Durham was amazingly clean and comfortable. My husband only had a 4 minute drive to Duke for his testing. There are grocery stores and fantastic restaurants within walking distance to the complex and we definitely felt safe and secure in the building. The sound machine provided in the master bedroom helped our toddler fall right to sleep every night we were there. My family has already decided this is where we will be staying every time we have to come to Durham, we loved it so much.

Passenger Train ran up to three times a day with a disturbing run after midnight...the train always blew a horn as it passed the area...very disrupting to sleep.

The location and room were good except there was no toilet paper at all. When I contacted Kasa's online chat they said they could not get toilet paper to the room for two days and asked me to buy some toilet paper for the room. I honestly was shocked by that customer service. To say sorry, they refunded me $50 after I complained multiple times. If you are worried about needing to use the bathroom, do not stay at this property.

There is a train track literally across the street from the window of the apar**ent. Train woke us up 3 times during the night. If it wasn’t for the train, it would be a 5 star experience. Everything else was perfect and their communication was top notch

When arrived after driving 5 hours, someone else’s things were in room. Beds were not made, food on counter dishes on table, no keys or fobs. Fobs were needed to exit building and enter garage. Couldn’t exit building and had to wait for someone to appear to get out. Would not refund my money. Ended up at another Hotel paying more money. Was there for a medical evaluation…nigh**are experience

The apar**ent was nicely decorated and spacious, but our unit was on the side of train tracks and it literally sounds like the train is coming through the windows when it comes by. Because there is an intersection, the train sounds its horn loudly and at a variety of times during the day and the middle of the night. Very jarring. One person in our party stayed elsewhere after the first night due to the noise. In addition, there is a strong smell in both the hallway and the unit that was very unpleasant… sweet chemical smell. It dissipated some when we opened the door to let in fresh air. But since this is a ground floor unit, it wasn’t possible to leave the door open long enough to really air it out properly. A couple of more minor things.. the mattresses were rocklike and uncomfortable to us. On the positive side, the pool area was beautiful, the gym was well outfitted and nice and the location was good and close to the university and good restaurants.

I would personally try to be alittle more in tune with the people not living there. As i stated before all travelers are different some require a bit more attention and are quite willing to pay for that attention. For instance if a guest is extremely diet restrictive and arriving late at night... i would inquire about what their individual needs may be upon arrival. Like hydration for medication or maybe go out of my way to personally make sure they have a smoothe transition from no airport food or no food at all to a refrigerator with some necessary items they can prepare to get them through. Hilton has done this countless times for me. (Usually a staff member takes it upon themselves) and it is definitely compensated for.
