The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah

A simply amazing family holiday. The Residence resort is stylish and luxurious with impeccable service. The restaurant at Dhigurgh is particularly good, as has a great selection of dishes, and the staff are attentive, warm, and friendly. A highlight for our young teens was the large choice of mocktails and having the private pool and beach area to use. The snorkelling at the house reef was top class, seeing turtles, reef sharks, and rays the first time. A unique feature of the resort are personal bicycles for each bungalow to explore the two islands (which are joined by long boardwalk). It's so cool to have this freedom and everyone is respectful and friendly. (And there is a shuttle vehicle as an alternative option) It's a great resort and amazing experience, so would highly recommend.

We went the The Residence Dhigurah in December 2023 for our belated honeymoon, and it was more than worth the wait. It is the most beautiful place, and we loved every second. The staff in particular were amazing, so friendly, helpful, professional and polite. Special mention to Hafiz and his team at The Dining Room Dhigurah (Walter, Sajith, Jony, Pavan and more) for being so attentive and nice. They remembered our names and villa number and order from the first day. All of these special touches meant you felt very looked after. The quality of the food and drinks was amazing. We took the Standard All Inclusive package which offered a huge menu of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer and more, which was a pleasant surprise. The buffet selections at breakfast and dinner were great, good choice for vegetarian and everything was labelled really well. The food stations where things were being cooked in front of you were great. We were so full that we often skipped lunch or just had a salad. We loved Cafe Del Sol for pre- or post-dinner cocktails and preferred the pool at Dhigurah island (although both are lovely). The staff at Cafe Del Sol were also fab and highly skilled and attentive. We loved having the bikes from the villa to get around both islands, and we didn’t often call a buggy, although this is an option if you don’t want to cycle. It was amazing being on one island but being able to cycle to the other to explore and see their pool, restaurant and bar. We ate in the other islands restaurant once for breakfast and dinner, but missed the staff and atmosphere at the Dhigurah Dining Room. We had an anniversary dinner at the Fulhumaa restaurant which was fantastic and well worth a visit (need to book). This was included in our Standard All Inclusive which we hadn’t realised but was a nice surprise. We also tried Li Bai where the Cantonese food was nice but was quite quiet on the day we went. In terms of activities, we tried paddle boarding and house reef snorkelling. We also booked the Sunset Dolphin cruise which is extra but really worth it in our opinion. We saw so many dolphins and the most amazing sunset, and nice to see the islands from afar. Would definitely recommend this. We enjoyed the photo shoot with Naif and have some nice photos to keep as a memory of the trip. My husband also did some diving with Amit and saw lots of turtles, sharks and sting rays. The quality of the villas on Dhigurah island was amazing. Beautiful decor. We had a sunrise water villa and everything was stunning. The trip back to the UK is long (with the extra domestic flight) but I guess that’s the price to pay to be in paradise. The resort organise all the transfers to Male so it is as smooth as possible. Overall, an amazing experience and a very special place. Highly recommend

Awesome team and awesome stay. Dining experience was super good by manager HAFIZ and team. Good 5 days stay.beautiful island and property. You can explore 2 properties at Same time which is an add-on benefits. Also,love the water villas and connecting bride between 2 island.

I would like to give my most sincerest gratitude to Hafiz who provided good service and amazing mocktail recommendations. He never faild to welcome us with a big smile. The team was amazing too. Amazing Malaysian head chef who didn’t fail to find us and say hi for every meal.

We are here on our honeymoon and the location is lovely but there are aspects of the hotel that we have found disappointing so we are sharing our thoughts for other travellers. The island we are on doesn’t have a public accessible beach whereas we imagined being able to walk around barefoot and explore the beaches surrounding our island. It rained on and off for the first five days of our stay and this made it quite difficult to get around as the island is big and we need to use bikes which we couldn’t when it was raining heavily. The beach we go to is a 15 minute cycle ride and located in between our island and the sister island (accessible by bridge) but when it rains you are stuck! There are also limited sun beds at the beach so only about 14 people can sit there comfortably. The restaurant choice is extremely limited. We found the marketing a bit misleading as other than the dining rooms they only have one beach restaurant on each of the adjoining islands and they give them different names as they function as different restaurants eg one restaurant has an Italian and Cantonese menu but it is the same actual restaurant. And the beach restaurants serve as evening restaurants with different names and a different menu too. So it seems as if there are more restaurants than there are. There is one fine dining restaurant on the other island which is really good. However we were only allowed one booking at each restaurant for our whole stay. We came at peak season and we really struggled to get a booking anywhere. The marketing shows the fine dining restaurant as being open for lunch but apparently hasn’t been open there for two years! Which gives me the impression that the management are not too concerned with guests experiences so long as people arrive on island. The reception is hidden away and although staff in the dining area are very friendly and hospitable the reception and management were not visible around the resort our whole trip except for drinks on New Years Eve. Which brings me to what we found incredible as they only supplied free drinks on the all inclusive up to 11pm and then we had to pay from then onwards . Other guests were as surprised as us, in fact having to sign for each drink anyway is cumbersome when it’s all inclusive anyway. Additionally, the coconuts (which grow on the island) are charged as an extra at $8 when ordered as a drink! Everyone we met has had the same difficultly getting into restaurants and many had to leave before they could. The activities are all at additional cost and very expensive. We would have liked to go to the spa (just treatments) but that was also overpriced. All in all we are having a lovely time together despite the negative review but the hotel is definitely not the paradise we had anticipated before we arrived. This place was perfect for a couple looking for the ultimate getaway. Everything about the villa and the service and food was beyond all expectations. Spent every day waking up to waves and biking under palms to breakfast and pools and incredible snorkeling. All of the staff were really good at the service part of thing and tried their hardest to go beyond your expectations. Highest recommendation!

A fabulous honeymoon location. The resort is absolutely beautiful we stayed in a sunset beach villa for 5 nights and 5 nights in a sunset over water villa. Both of which were outstanding but out of the 2 we preferred the privacy of the beach villa with direct access to the beach however the over water villa was fabulous for snorkelling. The staff in every area have been absolutely wonderful but a special mention to Hafiz and his team in the dining room who have been nothing short of exceptional, nothing has been too much trouble and they have delivered an excellent 5* dining service, even with my fussy eating and special requests. It’s been wonderful to have access to both islands to explore the different dining and leisure areas. we preferred the beach bar and pool at the other island however loved the team at cafe del Sol. We experienced the dolphin sunset cruise which was a fabulous evening. Scuba diving amongst the turtles and aquatic life was an incredible experience. The resort was very quiet as we came in off season so feel that it would have been nicer to have a few more guests to interact with however it did mean that we had the staffs undivided attention. The spa was beautiful set over the water and we enjoyed a couples massage. The weather was 50/50 we had a few days of rain and winds but we actually had such a fun day cycling through the rain and running along the beach carefree with none else in sight. Would absolutely recommend this resort. We hope to visit again in the future.

This was a return trip after two years and it did not fail us. We have had an incredible time as to be expected. From the moment we touched grounds in Male, we were taken care of right up until departure back home to the UK. All staff at the Residence Dhigurah and Faluhma were incredible. Huge thanks and commendation goes to The Dining Room staff, Hafiz, Sajith, Warul, Rayaan, Nafu, Junaid, Nilanka, Chef Tarang, Chef Shashee, Siva, Ashiful.Chef Walter personalised our stay even further by creating beautiful homemade dishes including a fabulous sushi platter and seafood platter. Apologies for if we have missed anyone. The housekeeping team were also faultless and went out of their way to ensure our comfort. Special thank yous to Sadhu and her team - Amirul and Haroon. The beach clubs were fabulous - special thanks to Thong and his team - Sumith and Ashish. To those who worked in the fine dining restaurants - special thanks Chef Shiva, Hassan and the rest of the team. Thank you massively to Milan who took us around the island!
