Astro Suite Hotel

This hotel is a 3 star not a 4 star. Bedding and furnishings not up to scratch. Slept on sofa bed with no bottom sheet and duvet with no cover. After our 8th night we had to ask for a linen change. 4 star hotels should offer a daily linen change. Poor breakfast. Small selection of cold buffet items. Stale bread. Ended up buying our own bread, fruits and cereals from the supermarket. Faulty toilet flush in our room with a sign on where to press it but even when doing this it’s still faulty. Hot tub is a cold tub with only two functioning jets. Pool is very shallow. We paid for a room with a sea view but didn’t get a sea view. (Photographic evidence attached) When complaining about this we were offered another room considered to have a sea view but this just overlooked a car park so we stayed where we were. No bar or restaurant. The hotel considers the breakfast room to be a restaurant. It is not. Provided with a towel to use for pool and beach but extra charge if we wanted to swap for a clean one. So we just used one smelly towel for 11 days We were not allowed to use pool area on our last day after checkout, even though we had 6 hours to kill. 40 euro charge if we wanted to have a shower before our flight. Complaint with jet2 pending. Basically we didn’t get what we paid for. On a positive note, the location of this hotel is excellent and the staff for the most part are friendly and attentive. If you are thinking of visiting Cefalu then I would recommend the hotel next door. Victoria palace, it seems to actually be a four star hotel and it’s cheaper than Astro suite, don’t understand why.

loved our stay at Astro Suite hotel ALL staff extremely helpful and friendly Room was spacious with a separate kitchen and dining area large fridge with small freezer and everything you need if you want to self cater. bathroom and bedroom areas good. the shower was great very powerful Air con worked well in both rooms Breakfast continental style but plenty of choice Ironing room available if required pool small but adequate for a cool off after walking around and never had to fight for a sunbed. hotel right opposite the beach with a lido and public area to choose from some chairs and umbrellas left by other guests for your use if you want to use the public beach and certain lidos will give you discount if you show your hotel keycard. quite windy for a few days whilst we were there which made the sea quite rough but lifeguards on beach during the day. when its a calm day the water is absolutely crystal clear and gorgeous for a swim. An abundance of restaurants and bars to choose from in the beautiful Cefalu - you will never be short of food and drink!! large supermarket near by the hotel Train station within walking distance and easy to get a train direct to Palermo which we did. We absolutely loved Cefalu and would thoroughly recommend to anyone and loved Astro Suite Hotel.

We have just returned from a week in the beautiful town of Cefalu in Sicily - an area which we first visited in 2017. This time we stayed in the Astro Suite Hotel and here are our comments (some positive and some negative) which hopefully will help others to make a decision on where to stay: The good: Location - the hotel is in an excellent location being just across the road from the main beach at Cefalu and less than a 10 minute walk from the old town where there are lots of restaurants and shops to wander around. The best restaurants we found were La Brace and Le Chat Noir. There is a very good supermarket (Deco) around a 5 minute walk from the hotel which stays open until 10pm. Also, the train station at Cefalu has trains direct to Palermo in under an hour should you wish to visit the capital. Cleanliness - the rooms and all areas of the hotel are super clean. Towels are changed daily. Kitchenette - well equipped with everything you'd need if you wanted to cook. Staff - without exception, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool - the hotel has a small swimming pool with sun loungers. The pool is rather shallow but fine if you have young children. The not-so-good: Breakfast - the hotel serves a continental-style breakfast, so no hot food at all. We found the choice to be rather limited. I think the hotel should offer a wider selection of cold meats and cheeses than they currently do. Sun loungers on beach - the hotel does not have its own private area of the beach and therefore the sun loungers come at a charge. For us (3 people) this came to 35 euros per day (and more expensive at the weekend). So if you are staying for a week or more, this can add up to quite a significant amount. The hotel does loan parasols free of charge though if you don't mind laying out a towel on the sand. Beach hawkers - there seems to be a large number of people walking up and down the beach trying to sell you stuff all day long. Gets rather tiresome. Check-out - the time for checking out of the hotel on your last day is 10.30am. However, if you are not leaving for the airport until later in the day the only facility the hotel can offer you to have a shower before you leave is the outside shower by the side of the pool and then to get changed in the toilet cubicle near reception. Not very satisfactory!

This hotel is in a wonderful location, very close to the old town of Cefalu but only a few yards from a wonderful beach. The hotel was very clean, all the staff friendly and helpful, our apartment had a perfect view of the sea with the sun setting each night. Breakfast was good, no complaints. Cefalu was a wonderful town, close by were old streets, squares below the cathedral and lots of good quality restaurants.

Please see below an email I sent to the hotel after they tried to pick holes in my fair and honest review. I do not appreciate your reply to my review on Tripadvisor. I gave an honest review of your very average hotel. 1. The linen was not good enough! We were not shown to our room as you say. This is a lie. We did not get our linen changed every three days and felt we had to ask for it to be changed after our 8th night. So again more lies from you. 2. If the breakfast is of such high quality then why was there stale bread? Fruit selection was minimal compared to other four star hotels that we have stayed at. 3. Not all of your rooms have a sea view, this is another lie. The pictures speak for themselves. We expressed our dissatisfaction with the room but the only other choice was another room without a sea view and it had less outdoor space, so we stayed where we were. I wish we had just left the hotel as we didn’t get what we paid for. 4. The only thing you said that was actually true was that we were appreciative and kind to the hotel staff. Of course we were, just because we were polite does not mean that we were happy with the hotel. 5. After checkout we did not use the pool area as you suggest. We sat on the tables directly outside reception as we were told there was a 40 euro charge to use the pool and the downstairs shower room. It’s very rude to challenge a guest review and especially as your response was full of lies. I feel as if you have called me a liar and this just shows to me that the hotel is poorly managed.
