I absolutely had a wonderful time on my vacation. The building and grounds are beautiful and the artwork is exquisite. I enjoyed both Katia's warm smile and generosity as well as the other woman who speaks english, but I didn't catch her name. I really loved speaking with her as she has a very strong and kind spirit. I noticed throughout my stay that there is 24hr security on site as I get up randomly throughout the night. When the AC stopped working in my room I was offered a different room with working AC, but I was comfortable in my suite and the night air was good enough to keep me cool until the next morning when they fixed it. I felt very welcomed, safe, and appreciated. They get 5 stars from me.

It's like staying in a museum - paintings and sculptures everywhere - with the plus of a good restaurant onsite and good location relative to Cancun shops. The furnishings are dated, and there are no appliances in the room (no fridge, no coffee-maker, no microwave), but we enjoyed our meals at the small onsite restaurant and considered the rest to be part of the old-world ambience of the hotel, a big contrast to the mammoth Royal Sands next door (and BTW, we've been Royal Resorts owners for 20 years, so we're very familiar with the Sands.) Very pleasant staff, too. We'll be back.

Pros: Room was large. Great view of pool and ocean. Nice beach area. Nice location. The art and sculptures were interesting. The people that work there were great. Built in 1991, this property has some great potential to be what it once was with a little work and some dollars invested. Cons: ALL hot tubs on patios in the rooms do not work. Elevator seldom works forcing us to walk flights of stairs every time we left the room. Patio had broken deck boards with holes. No microwave. No kitchenette. Small freezer in small refrigerator. No ice access or ice machine. Mini split a/c unit leaked every day leaving puddles on the floor by the exit door and in our hallway. Sometimes no hot water for showers. No working hot tub on premises. Small pool. Walking down the driveway has concrete tiles that are coming out, uneven and dangerous. Tennis court is run down and cannot be used. Beds are rock hard. Paint is peeling throughout the whole property. Advertised photos of the property were taken in 2015 and not a close representation of the property today. Does not have a 24 hour service desk. They only provide you with one key per room. Pretty much a self service hotel.

Property needs an input of cash to bring it up to decent standards. Hot water and water pressure was bad, no coffee machines in room. Springs in bed mattress were coming through material creating awful sleeping. All lounge chairs, pool and beach, need replacing, probably 20 plus years old, very uncomfortable. Staff wanted Identification for replacing beach towels each time, really??

A LITTLE BIT OLD AND NOT UPDATED IN TECHNOLOGY BUT THAT IS WHAT MAKE IT UNIQUE,OVERALL LOVE THE EASY WAY.TO TJE BEACH AND THE OCEAN VIEWS.

This is a boutique hotel and museum! The art hanging in the hotel is incredible. Sculptures are intriguing also. The pool area is divine - few people, perfect temp for swimming, drinks available. Beach area is great also. Our room was a pleasant surprise - nice patio area very spacious room king bed and a Roman bathtub! The building has seen better days. Lots of storm damage and small rusty spots but overall a great deal for the hotel zone of Cancun!

This beachfront hotel is well located and has a different vibe than surrounding all-inclusive resorts (which is a good thing as far as we're concerned). The pool and view are really nice, the restaurant food is good and the staff is super friendly. This hotel must have been incredible in the 70s and the property has tremendous potential, but it desperately needs renovation. The room we had was spacious but depressing with awful furniture and very little natural light (rather neon lights) - it absolutely did not look like the pictures we saw on *******. The pool furniture also needs to be updated. We enjoyed our one-night stay but we wouldn't go back.

The hotel is ran down and outdated. Cleanliness was not good. Mold on the curtains, bed mattresses were hard, squeaky bathroom door, glass tables throughout the hotel were dirty. I asked for additional blankets because they were thin, like summer camp blankets which had someone’s initials. Staff brought them to the wrong room. Restaurant food was so so. Staff service was mediocre at best Pool area wasn’t kept clean. You could tell the hotel once upon time was very nice, and it still has potential, but it needs alot of maintenance/investment.

We stayed six nights. The people at this hotel are absolutely wonderful, and wanted to mention Rual specifically. As per the other reviews this an old hotel that needs lots of improvments but can be an amazing place. They are working on improving. We enjoyed the small size of the hotel. Its very quiet, private beach and all of the art inside the hotel is really neat. When we arrived our ac didnt work and they were on top of it right away to get it fixed and switched us into a nicer room. Its close to alot of central shopping and dining. Bed are kinda hard, towels need replaced but the point of staying here is not for luxury. Dont go here if you are looking for a luxury experience. I highy reccomend if you wanted a small quiet hotel and dont care about it needing improments. Overall its a great place to stay and I would return.

Property need more maintenance but is beautiful. Could be nice if from pool you can see the ocean. And to have a bar on the beach and music. And a kitchen on the pool area to have more fast the food

Property location is 10/10 on the hotel zone except be prepared to walk up a steep grade each time coming and going. If you have stroller or limited mobility. The mall beside has a grocery store and the isla shopping centre is not far. Compared to the cost of the big hotels on the beach it is good for a short stay. The room is rustic.

The property itself was beautiful and right on the beach which was nice. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The hotel itself was a ghost town though and trying to get a drink was near impossible you had to search for staff and then once you found someone and told them your order it took them a long time to come back so we started getting 4 at once. A nice place if you want very quiet and relaxing but me and my boyfriend are in our early 30s and would have preferred a bit of an atmosphere. We only stayed 1 night before our flight home, wouldn’t stay longer

The staff was wonderful. Very friendly and warm and welcoming, almost like bring with family. I also really liked the style and architecture of the building--it showed an old world charm with all the marble and statues, however, the building was not properly maintained. From wobbly bannisters, a broken elevator, power outages, a tub without a faucet but with hard water stains and rust, and A/C that stop working, sliding glass doors (on the ground floor) that were also broken, loose cobblestones on the drive/entryway, that this hotel did not make for a comfortable stay.
