Agroturism Stara Štala

Not far from the Ucka National Park and just off the motorway/ highway. Great sized room, huge bed. Couldn't try the food at night because there was a wedding....easy; eat earlier or drive to a really nice restaurant (check my other reviews). Huge breakfast, homemade yoghurt, jams, and pate. Super friendly hosts. All in all we rated it and would def stop again.

The second thing you should know your menu so that they can prepare the food fresh and in time saved. The third thing when you arrive at “Stara Štala” you have an interesting ride through the little-undiscovered villages. After you’ve been doing formalities, you come to a place that will fill you with the warmth of domestic products. We ordered the veal with roasted gold potatoes under the baking lid. Those gold potatoes are still shining, it was delicious. But for the starter, we had domestic Sausage, “Pršut”, Dried pancetta, and cheese. After the starter, we continued on homemade gnocchi and ravioli with mushrooms. The main star of the evening is, however, a dish under the lid. The veal with roasted gold potatoes under the baking lid was delicious and good prepared. How excellent food does not go without wine we decided to try white wine and red wine to relax a bit further. “Has anything to do for dessert?” “So you did not announce anything!” was the answer. But the pleasant staff joking and making us pancakes with Istrian dry curd cottage cheese – Skuta and honey. After abundant meals, it is necessary to take a walk and we went with the staff to tour the village. Lovely setting and stone buildings, but once you turn off the road at the brown sign for Stava Strala, you don’t get another sign for it, despite passing a couple of other houses, so just keep going. The room was spacious and airy, but there’s no kettle or fridge and they make it clear that eating in the room is not permitted. The *********** listing claims satellite TV, but that wasn’t the case, just terrestrial. However, given Croatian TV airs lots of English-language films and series in original language with Croatian subtitles, there’s more choice than you might think. There are lots of rave reviews about the food on here, and while it was generally good the portions were average and not particularly generous (especially side dishes of vegetables and salad, which seems strange). We also got the distinct impression that their main business is the restaurant, which often hosts big events such as weddings, or is fully booked for such as Sunday lunch (both of which happened when we were there) and that during these times we guests were very much secondary. In fact, we actually felt like we were in the way. The staff and owners work very hard and are, perhaps, a bit over-stretched at these times. The wedding revelry went on well into the early hours (quite rightly) and might have disturbed some people, though we didn’t find it too bad, despite having our windows open. Breakfast was ample and good, with eggs if you want them – and ask for the pumpkin jam!

Ottimo ristorante nel mezzo dell'Istria; si tratta di una vecchia stalla riadattata magnificamente; posto immerso nel verde, curatissimo e pulito da una gestione famigliare. Abbiamo mangiato molto bene, cibo genuino e di qualità: consigliatissimo. Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo.

Wir waren 4 Nächte auf dem Bauernhof und haben uns dort sehr gut gefühlt. Die Familie und die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Der Hof scheint abgelegen zu sein, aber alle spannenden Ziele sind schnell erreichbar. Sehr gutes Frühstück und tolles Abendessen, mit Produkten vom Hof. Besonders bedanken wir uns bei der jungen Dame die uns hervorragend bedient hat.

Siamo arrivati senza prenotazione e la ragazza gentilissima ci ha fatto accomodare. Menù semplice e casalingo, con prodotti locali come il prosciutto e il formaggio. Sala con grandi tavoloni in legno, possibilità di mangiare in giardino godendo della vallata. Prezzo nella norma, servizio un po’ lento.
