The Blue Dory Inn

A delightful experience! Step back in time to a quieter, more gentile time. The 5pm cocktail time provides opportunity to meet fellow visitors. The provided breakfast is perfect with fruit, eggs, pastries, beverages and excellent coffee. We’ve been coming for several years and will continue to stay at the Blue Dory. Close to town and gracious in every way.

Cute little inn. We stayed in the Blue Dory Cottage right behind the Inn. As quaint as it was, we were disappointed that many things weren't working. The deadbolt wouldn't lock, the tumbler just spun around. It was difficult to get the key in the other lock as the lock was heavily corroded from the salt sea air. The jacuzzi wasn't working. Internet was spotty. The manager, Holly, was super. She is extremely pleasant and hard working. The wine and cheese in the afternoon was nice and breakfast was fine. The Inn is conveniently located to the town and ferry. A bit overpriced though.

Spent a couples weekend and had a great time. Holly and Sabrina are amazing and can’t do enough to make you feel like you’re the only guest there. Rooms were very comfortable and tge breakfast was delicious. Nice wine and snacks too in the afternoon! We’ll be back! Rick, Gina, Anne and Benno-NYC

Our stay at the Blue Dory: Waverly Suite II was way beyond comfort and convenience - it was truly phenomenal! The Suite 's deck opens out for easy access to Crescent Beach and the interior's fine touches were perfect for our dogs and us. Breakfast was absolutely delicious every morning, and the very best memory was made on Thanksgiving evening when we shared one of the most scrumptious turkey dinners of all time with fellow guests. All were also invited to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and desserts at their sister inn - Avonlea by the Sea. A big 'thank you' to everyone at the Blue Dory for making us feel so welcomed and joyful this Thanksgiving weekend!

The location could not be beat, just a few steps from the ferry dock! Ann, owner/hostess, was most welcoming and checked us in early. The bed was comfortable, place was clean. We enjoyed the easy going and gracious atmosphere of the the place as a whole. However, the place is a parallel to a beloved aged auntie: overly perfumed, creaking under the array of outdated and tatty accoutrements, a little too self absorbed in its former glory, and a victim of aging. The stair cases are as steep as the hallways are narrow, so try to get a first floor room, and for heaven’s sake, don’t sling your Cary-all over your shoulder, you could take out some of the decor! Every nook and corner is stuffed with chachkies, and while I know that many in the B & B crown love this sort of thing, it made my head spin. A good declutter, removal of a third of the anything-but-comfortable Victorian furniture, and swapping out the florals for stripes and solids would be my suggestion, but again, my tastes are entirely my own. This place serves food, but the wine service features less than extraordinary fare, is therefore a gesture and not anything that would cause me to forgo appetizers at any of the great dining options in New Shoreham. The women in the kitchen serving breakfast are lovely, but don’t expect a great spread; some of the pastries are a little dried out, there is no sausage or bacon. Would I recommend The Blue Dory Inn to others? Sure, it’s very sweet and the staff is welcoming and accommodating. The price is steep, but I suppose in line with other offerings in the area.

Charming and quaint inn, conveniently located. Delicious breakfast and welcoming host. The perfect island getaway. Block Island is an ideal place to relax, recharge, and explore. We are planning on going again.

We booked a group of rooms for our wedding party at Blue Dory. You cannot beat the location, just steps from the beach and steps from downtown. What puts Blue Dory over the top is the staff; due to a tropical storm, our group ended up stranded on the Island for four extra days. Desiree and her team were incredible, working with us to make sure everyone was taken care of as we waited for the ferries to start back up. We felt at home during our stay, and we will definitely be back!

Overall our stay was great, but the mattress in our bedroom did not have much support and too many stairs. We won't be staying on the third floor next time. Centrally located to the ferry and downtown so you can walk just about anywhere. I prefer the Avonlea, but would consider the Blue Dory as a second option.

The setting is wonderful! Close to everything! Friendly staff and very helpful. The inn is musty and very old, we stayed at the end of summer, so the place showed signs of wear and tear. We were with a group of 8 and used the parlor for games etc. Furniture is Victorian, so not comfortable and the bistro in the basement was too musty smelling. A little more attention needed in these areas and it would be perfect!
