This hotel is located just by the Shanklin beach and it’s handy for the Shanklin railway station. The staff is really friendly and breakfast is pretty good. More importantly, the room is cozy and comfy with beautiful seaside views. Highly recommend.

A lovely hotel: friendly and helpful staff; clean and comfortable; great breakfast; sea view from the front of the hotel and its garden; very close to Shanklin Chine. I would say the hotel was a highlight of our short holiday on the Isle of Wight

The Clifton is a home from home. It provides everything you need for a loverly get away. We stayed in a Bay room with lovely sea views, and woke up to the sun rising over the English Channel each morning. We were very impressed with the excellent breakfast provided, and usually partook of a pot of tea in the afternoon in the sunny conservatory, We also enjoyed the company of the excellent barman when having a drink in the evening. He was a mine of information on the island and itshistory.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The sea view from our balcony was soo relaxing. The room had unexpected extras, tea and coffee station, coffee pods or sachets fridge stocked with wine, water and milk for tea, hairdryer, dressing gowns, good amount of hangers in the wardrobe plus iron and ironing board. Their food is excellent. Overall an excellent place to stay.

My partner and I have just returned from a fabulous Easter weekend stay at the Clifton. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. All the staff were very friendly, polite and you could tell took pride in their jobs. The breakfast selection was great and even served cream to go with the porridge. Fried bread, black pudding and beans were also a great addition, upon request. The rooms were super clean, warm and had everything you needed. The selection of beverages and biscuits in the room were extensive, even supplying hot chocolate and a bottle of water. Even though we had a standard double, we still had a side view of the sea and lots of natural light. The location was great and very quite at night. The ferry inclusive package which the hotel offers really made a difference to us choosing the hotel. All in all a fantastic hotel and one which we hope to return to one day. Thanks to all the team at the Clifton.

We found The Clifton Hotel to be very pleasant - it sat on the top of the cliff looking out to sea and their garden was superb, with lots of unusual scrubs etc. The hotel itself was very light and airy (loads of needle-point cushions all beautifully done by the owners mother) and the bedroom was nicely decorated, clean and had everything you require in it. Food was good with an excellent breakfast, served in the garden room and we, also, had an excellent cream tea. The location was great as it was only a 5 minute walk away to the High Street/Village where there were some good restaurants. The beach can be accessed from the hotel, but we drove down there to have a look as the weather was very rough. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

The Clifton is a stunning little gem we discovered whilst on our honeymoon in 2022. We immediately booked 3 holidays for 2023 and have already booked for this year. It is a wonderful hotel, attentive friendly and helpful staff, beautiful rooms, wonderful food and stunning views. Shanklin is also beautifully located making it the perfect package.

We were recommended this hotel by a relative who had stayed last year. It met our expectations 100%. The garden is a great place to relax in the sun with a wonderful view of the sea and passing ships. The staff are welcoming like a family and we felt like guests in their home. The breakfast menu is extensive allowing a choice of a different meal each day of the week. The garden is a great place to relax in the sun at any time of the day and has a wonderful view of the sea and passing ships. The Hotel's recommendations of local restaurants are good and the light meals on offer in the hotel are good if you feel like staying in. Shanklin is a good centre from which to visit the attractions of the Isle of Wight and the local bus services provide easy access to most places allowing you to leave the car behind and enjoy the journeys. We thoroughly recommend it as a place to spend a short break or a holiday.
