Au Loup Historic Apartments

The pros; Street parking is easy and the location is central. The cons: Not very welcoming,no email was sent by the host to confirm the property was ready on the day. No welcome pack, just rules and a threat of an imposed extra charge of € 30 if the kitchen isn't left clean. The lighting is poor to eat. Kitchen has a combi oven only. Untidy exterior and no outside seating area. Ground floor suffers from noise from above. The bed had a plastic mattress protector which was both uncomfortable and noisy. There is no ventilation in the bedroom andno fan, the window doesn't open. TV isn't set up properly. We wouldn't stay again.

the apartment is in a good location, walking distance to everything. We had apartment 8, located in the attic up quite a few levels of stairs, no lift. Ok if you are fit and travel light. There are ground floor apartments. To us the apartment lacked love & was uninviting. From the moment you walk in the front gate, which does not close properly, there is no reception, entry is by code, which you receive at 3pm on date of arrival by email, so you need access to your email, difficult to contact owner, phone calls not answered, you get message in french. There is no airconditioning, a fan is provided. With a little effort this place could be great. The apartment itself was quite good. It has a kitchenette with food preparation facilities. The room was very clean, spacious. Bed was comfortable, bathroom modern & quite good, plenty of hot water. Nice views of surrounding area. Could easily get a 5 out of 5.

Good choice to stay in Bayeux, walking distance to everything but away from the main tourist drag. We were in one of the top apartments - we knew there would be stairs involved and the floorplans and descriptions on the website are very accurate. Access using the keysafe was easy. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen sufficiently stocked with plates etc for two people (literally two of everything which was amusing) and the place was clean. I thought the cost was reasonable. A few quibbles: - parking is very difficult to find anywhere nearby on the road, just be prepared to drop luggage off and then drive and find parking - the bathroom door was a sliding door and when latched from the inside regularly stuck and would not open. Had one of us not been in the kitchen and able to unlatch the lock using the bolt, the other would have been stuck in there with no way out - the TV had terrestrial French channels only and would not connect to wifi to allow use of the smart TV functions at all, so we didn't bother. - wifi was a very weak signal at the top of the building - if it is important, pick an apartment lower down - as others have mentioned, there is a large sign warning of the cleaning charge if the kitchen is not left spotless. We cleaned up before leaving so no idea how strictly this is enforced - for the fee it was not worth testing.

I had the top flat, which are up a considerable number of stairs. Didnt bother me, but be aware when booking if you have any mobility issues. Nice size apartment, easy to find and straight forward digital "check in" Bayeaux isnt large anyway, but the apartments are an easy walk to the cathedral and shops, slightly longer to the tapestry. The only downside for some may be that the wifi didnt reach up to the apartment. I could pick it up when i walked down the stairs so i presume the other apartments are ok. Didnt bother me, but just to be aware if wifi is vital to you.

I would never stay here again. The apartment’s (#1) location was good and it was quiet in spite of being right on the street. The bed was very uncomfortable and we both experienced back pain from sleeping on that hard, lumpy mattress. WiFi never worked for more than a few seconds. We never figured out how the water heater worked (no instructions given) so we only had hot water the first day. The day before we were checking out, I sent an email to the management asking for assistance in arranging a cab for the next morning. We never got a reply. There is no Uber in Bayeux and you just don’t walk out the door and flag down a cab. We eventually found a cab company and arranged pick up. Now I have to check my credit card statement to confirm we weren’t charged the extra 30 euros for not cleaning the kitchen properly. SMH.

This apartment was absolutely lovely, clean and comfortable. It was located within walking distance of the town. I would highly recommend it as I would the town of bayeux itself. Try get down early in the morning for a wonder through the market.

Booked two rooms for four nights, Bayeux is a very picturesque little town and location is great for walking to bakeries, market and restaurants. Parking is free, on the street, I can see issues during high tourist season. Apartments are wonderful,y renovated, good basics, but only two items of each and a warning to leave kitchen clean or pay a cleaning fee (hard to think that people need to be warned about this). We booked a ground floor unit due to my husbands knee surgery and we were very happy with it, however upon entry, unit had a low beeping sound. Long story short, we had to move twice, ended up on third floor. Thank you to a young lady named Séverine who assisted us, she got us a very small discount on our first night and provided a bottle of cider! Communication with owner is poor and internet is basically non existent. Could be a wonderful stay if everything goes well.

Booked through *********** United Airlines flight delay caused us to be late Neither the apartment nor *********** would assist, reschedule, or refund. Stay away from both!! Campanile hotel is much better

First, I never received check-in information. On our way into Bayeux for a 4-day stay in Apartment 5, we had purchased groceries and arrived at 4PM. I had been sending messages since early afternoon, with no response. I had to find the address of the apartments on Google Maps and waited there with my thawing food until almost 6PM for a 'around 3PM' check-in, The internet did not work, so only French TV, and I had to buy additional camera SD cards as I could not upload pics to my phone without being able to send them to the cloud. There is no laundry, and it is almost impossible to do it in Bayeux - there are laundry facilities nearby, but the hours are bad, so it's a time tradeoff with your touring. There is a sign in the apartment of warning of a 30 euro charge if you don't clean the kitchen. There is no dishwasher, so this is not an issue for a 1-2 night stay, but for 4 nights it was pretty annoying trying to keep everything clean. The location was great, and there were a lot of towels. The kitchen was pretty well equipped. The bathroom was nice. I just have never had a host be so unresponsive. Never contacted me, never even apologized.
