Charm Nature

When booking this hotel for a weekend break of peace and relaxation we were not advised of the building site directly next to the hotel. Having spent the covid years working in social care it was especially booked for the peaceful location, pool and views, we even upgraded our room to enjoy the outside space. The building site next door ran from early morning until early evening, the noise and disruption was all consuming and very loud, the dust and lack of privacy meant we could not use our outside space, the pool or eat breakfast outside and had to leave the hotel all day to get away from the construction site. The management did not respond to our issues with the stay, we were not offered a different room that was not directly next to the building site with the crane view and building workers from the window. *********** who offer this hotel still do not make any potential customers aware that there is building going on. We asked if we could keep our room until our later flight to change after going out for the day and were told it was already booked, in fact it was still available to book on the website. If we had stayed at a different time I'm sure the review would be different, however as the owners have no interest in the happiness of their guests, are not open and honest about what is currently going on before booking or even any interest in responding, it was a very expensive and much needed holiday ruined and I would not recommend staying here.

Beautiful grounds and common areas. The staff are what made it so special, however. Super helpful, friendly, and attentive.

The hotel is fantastic, from the beautiful views, the eco conscious touches, the fresh and tasty food and the super helpful staff. We stayed in a camper which had a gorgeous deck and the bed was so comfy. Bathroom was a little small, but that is expected in a camper! Would definitely return as a perfect retreat for exploring this part of Portugal.

We booked Charm Nature as somewhere to spend a few nights before heading to Lisbon. Lisbon had been the main focus of our trip, but after a few nights at Charm a nature we found ourselves wishing we didn’t have to move on! Visiting in early Spring meant the hotel was fairly empty, but we couldn’t have been luckier with the weather or the staff, who were incredibly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and the hotel itself lovely and well designed. We stayed in the Charm Camper - a revamped airstream which had a large terrace with a view out to sea. It was very cosy if a little cramped - the bathroom could have done with a little more space - but overall perfect for our needs and the view made it worth it. The location was ideal as somewhere to combine with a Lisbon stay. We took day trips out to Cascais and Sintra which are both short Uber or bus (if you can workout the timetable!) trips away, and took walks out to Cabo da Roca and the Convento dos Capuchos. We visited two of the restaurants in the local village, 3 Gomes and Casa del Mar Sem Fim and really enjoyed both - if you go to the latter do try the delicious seabass and “pica pau” starter - and had a drink both days watching the sunset over beautiful views at Moinho Dom Quixote, about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Overall a lovely hotel in a beautiful location!

Enjoyed: -The staff are excellent, friendly, helpful and professional. -Best scrambled eggs ever! -David’s warm greeting each day will be missed. To Improve: -The room is too dark, nearly all decor is brown; like living in a cave. Needed to switch a light on during the day otherwise too dark. Can introduce warm colours from nature into the room to brighten it up and paint some walls in lighter colours, like off white or soft sage. -There was no bathroom in our premium room (room 7). Free standing bath which we did not use. The shower is also open with a clear glass so no privacy. -Fixtures need some TLC, rust on soap holders and black mould on stone wall. -Towel rail is needed to hang wet towels as the heater rail not sufficient. -Toilet was smelling, think from poor drainage? -Outside terrace lights are left on by hotel until 2am which is wasteful and not nice as the light shines into the room through curtain. -More lunch options required. -In room coffee should not be charged. Sadly due to the geographic location this hotel’s views are blocked by the micro climate which brings plenty mist, fog and dampness.

This place is magical... everything about it. The property, the smell of the cork, the rooms, the view, the design, the staff, the service, the food. If I could give more than 10/10 I would. Highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel, all eco friendly. The area around is very quiet and calm. Staff were amazing, welcoming and very accommodating. I’d visit Charm Nature again!

Very helpful, nice staff. Lovely pool and view. Superb breakfast. Great location for exploring, but you'll need a car... They have electric charging if you can rent an electric car too. Only small challenge for some would be the open plan room including shower in same area... But maybe not all rooms are like that. All in all my wife and 8 year old son and I really enjoyed it.

Couldn’t recommend this place more. The accommodation and grounds are stunning, so peaceful and a lovely retreat away from the busier cities nearby. Breakfast was such a treat with fresh smoothies & avocado toast. We enjoyed our stay so much which was made even more special by Igor. He was attentive, kind and made the most delicious orange cake!
