Once you step through the doors, you are immediately in your own little world. It’s easy for resorts to feel too commercial, but the Avalon was a local-feeling getaway with many little nooks and crannies to explore. The grounds are well-kept and the service staff is top tier. When you’re ready to go out into the world, there are many other restaurants, bars, and shops in walking distance. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

First time to stay at this property after multiple trips to Catalina. This is our place for future visits. Central enough for convenience but enough off the main drag for it to be quiet and peaceful. They do lots of little things to make it seem very homey and welcoming.

The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were immaculately, clean and comfortable. They incorporate local tile into many elements around the hotel. The continental breakfast was lovely and served on their beautiful patio.

Just a perfect place to stay when visiting Catalina. The location was ideal, the rooms lovely and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant and easy. Breakfast in the garden by the koi pond was just right; guidance for good restaurants spot-on and all the little things-like a voucher for the cab from the ferry or sparkling water after a long day of touring--felt seamless.Look forward to going back!

Best hotel in town. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Comfy beds and pillows. Super view to harbor. Great breakfast and a roof deck that has the best views in town. They were very helpful getting us to and from the ferry and guiding usbto restaurants and our activities

The first picture shown here is I believe the room we stayed in. Corner room with a balcony. 301. This was one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in in our many years of travel here in the US and in Europe and Asia. Real wood furniture, high quality, in the room and on the balcony. No cheapo plastic chairs or folding beach chairs for sure. The bathroom is awesome. Classic look fixtures but top of the line. It is within walking distance of the ferry, shops, restaurants, beaches, tours, grocery, library, museums. Yet far enough that we can’t hear any bar or restaurant noise at night. Enjoyed the added perk of complementary taxi pickup and drop off to the ferry. (Just tip the driver $5 or so) Continental breakfast was adequate. Eating in the garden area while watching the large fish (koi?) was amazing. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Communication was very good - before, during and after the trip. I recommend this hotel, our first time in Catalina Island with the family was special. We hope to return someday and will definitely stay here again.

This should be everyone’s first choice for a place to stay on the island. We just visited for my husband’s birthday, and it was amazing. The building and rooms are beautiful and clean. It’s the small touches that we loved that pushed it over the top. The fire pit during al fresco breakfast, hummingbirds, and the beautiful courtyard are great. Photos of history throughout. Tiles from a local artisan in the rooms and throughout. The bathroom is sanitized by uv lighting (also extremely clean) as well as the uv cleaner for the remote control. The bed is soooo soft! We received texts before our trip asking if we needed anything. Additionally, taxi from the dock was included both ways. Yes, we could walk, but it was nice to not have to roll our luggage and possibly damage wheels on the pavement. They sent a bottle of champagne to our room for the birthday celebration. This place and everyone there exceeded our expectations. Location is perfect, as well.

This hotel was way better than expected. The front desk manager (owner?) was so kind and helpful upon checking. The rooms and hallways are clean and very nice. The furniture is beautiful. The bathrooms were good too. The breakfast was decent and we enjoyed the patio dining. The flowers were so nice. Overall I would absolutely stay here again.
