The room, cleanliness and service was excellent. A really nice hotel - badly let down by its food. The menu in the bar was uninspiring. I struggled to pick something I really enjoyed the sound of and wanted to eat. Between us and friends we sampled quite a selection of the meals over the 3 nights we stayed, and were unanimously unimpressed.  If the Hotel was nearer other establishments we’d have eaten elsewhere after the first night.  The fried fish tasted ‘mushy’.  The chicken satay skewers were so basic, served with just salad leaves, it felt lazy. Not restaurant fare.   The Nachos with beef for an eye watering €19.95 were shocking. Under the top layer it was just a pile of plain tortilla chips. The beef was fairly dry. It was a €12 starter at best.   The burger was overcooked and mediocre.  The side salad was €6 ( but only €4.95 in the restaurant ??) which consisted of a bowl of leaves with onion on top and a scant dressing. The best part of the meal was the lemon posset. Smooth and tangy.  Frankly there was nothing served to us that couldn’t be cooked better by a reasonable home cook.  Hodson Bay has  everything else right ! …. Shame about the food. 

Great hotel.I was there for a family gathering and everything was perfect. The staff were very good with the children and the amenities were fantastic.

From the moment I checked in my experience was really nice. Great reception staff and the new room was really nice. Food in bar was nice. Bar had only one server at one point and a lot of people were waiting but overall would stay again

Overall hotel was clean.  Service in the bar was very slow even with 5 staff working.  No premier league sports are shown in the hotel as they don’t have sky.  Breakfast on first morning was cold as we were put into a separate room because the main dinting room was full.  Shower  could be a lot hotter

Enjoyed our stay, view from the room was fantastic. Very comfy bed.

Beautiful place

Although overnight accommodation at this hotel is pricey, we had a very enjoyable stay. Bar food was tasty and not over-priced. Pool facilities extremely clean. Professional and friendly staff who were a pleasure to deal with. Location is right on the shore of the lake, what's not to like about that?! Room was spotlessly clean with wonderfully thick comfy mattresses and heaps of pillows. Bed linen and towels all brand new. Would highly recommend this place for an escape for a bit of peace 😊
