Great that the hotel is super clean and quiet, with good food and good services. Not to mention the outstanding interior design. Felt like living in a museum. Special experience.

This is a fantastic place to stay. Beautifully designed with cool cosmopolitan rooms. A nice touch was the Le Labo toiletries in the bathroom. The rooms are quiet and the bar and dining areas super cool. Would make a great hotel for a couple on a citybreak. An underground car park is useful if a little expensive.

I can’t believe the terrible experience I had at August Hotel! Every room I stayed in had flies! I checked in today and initially chose a standard room. Upon entering, there was a fly buzzing around and even landing on the bed. I immediately called the front desk, and a man who claimed to be the manager came up. He first said he would send someone to deal with the fly, but flies carry bacteria wherever they land! I refused his offer, and he then said I had to wait until 3 PM to change rooms. By 2 PM, I decided to upgrade to the Experience room for an additional charge, hoping for a better environment. However, when I entered the new room, there was still a fly! I called the front desk again, and a lady came up much later. She saw the fly but her solution was simply to open the window, showing no concern about potentially letting in more flies! Up to this point, I had not received a single apology or compensation. The lady even asked me where I was from. When I said the United States, she asked if there were no flies in America. My goodness! Of course, hotel rooms don’t have flies! This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!

I’ve ideated over visiting Antwerp and staying at the August hotel for over a year now. As an admirer of Vincent Van Duysen’s work, this was the primary reason for my long awaited visit. The design and surroundings of the hotel certainly don’t disappoint, however, minimalism was also a feature of the staffs behaviour. I wish my experience lived up to my expectations but a beautiful hotel without hospitality alludes to just smoke and mirrors. Even though I had a pleasant enough stay, it was missing warmth and welcome which is exactly what you look for when you’re a visitor to a foreign city.

This was our second stay at August. Although we loved the first time, the second time left a lot to be desired for. The service level at this hotel is almost non existent. We arrived quite late after being stuck in traffic (around 9 PM), and we checked in and then around 9:15 came to the bar to look at the food menu. We were met with a very unfriendly waiter who had no interest in answering any questions about the menu or anywhere nearby to eat telling us that he had only been here for six weeks and didn't know anything, most importantly he did not tell us that the kitchen closed at 9:30 PM. So we deliberated about whether to eat at the bar or go elsewhere (bear in mind, there aren't many places to eat near by as they all seem to close early on a Sunday). When we came back at 9:30, the waiter told us that good that we wanted to eat but too bad the kitchen was now closed and he seemed to be taking a joy out of it. We were told by him when asked that there was no room service for food. Only drinks were served as room service. Considering it wasn't that late, this hotel should have some facilities in place for a light snack for guests. Also, at the reception, we complained that we were not told by the guy that they would be closing soon and they told us to try deliveroo. In the end my husband asked them if there was anything we could have that didn't need to be cooked, we were given some fruit which we ate and went to bed. I had written a complaint to their manager and they replied after 22:30 to tell me that if I was still hungry, the hotel actually does provide pizzas! News to me as I was told there was no food. No manager was to be seen and we never heard from anyone after I made a complaint about the incident. This spoilt our stay, especially when we had detoured to stay here. Our room was lovely. Although the room's bathroom door makes a lot of noise. Anyway, it would be great for staff to know the options they have for food for guests, someone should follow up after a complaint is sent and if there is no food option, perhaps the hotel should have a deliveroo account which can be charged to the room should there be any need to order food at 9:30 PM after kitchen closes.

I had high expectations from this hotel due to the great reviews and photos and they were all met. It's a beautiful, minimalistically, modern yet luxurious hotel. First of all, it smells absolutely gorgeous.. As you enter you get this beautiful smell. The staff are lovely and friendly. We came here after a long drive, and what a beautiful place to arrive to. The room is very comfortable and I had a very good night sleep. I get dust allergies, here I didn't feel a thing so excellent cleanliness. The bathroom has Le Labo toiletries which are super luxurious and smells amazing. I was really amazed that they had small and large slippers. I have small feet so it's the first time that slippers in a hotel fit me! I didn't get a chance to try their restaurant, because it was fully booked. I had some bar snacks and they were delicious. I also had breakfast, which was good but I wasn't too impressed. I think a hotel like this should try and have some fresh fruit juices and more choice but I know there is always room for improvement :-) I didn't get a chance to see the spa, but I had a peek from the window and it looked clean and lovely. The hotel also rents out bikes for €10 each ( didn't get to try them because I wanted to explore on foot). There are a few restaurants around so it's walkable distance to nice places to eat. The area is quiet and lovely. S I will certainly return again for a longer stay and try the spa too. The whole vibe of this place is Belgian chic. Luxurious and elegant and not in your face kind of style. The building is beautifully renovated and the whole place has a very chill out and cool vibe. If you are dithering about booking here, don't. Go for it and have a great time!

I was looking for a hotel near Antwerp with a good wellness area and a good restaurant to spend a relaxing Friday evening with my wife. I book the hotel and then the bad surprises start coming. First, the restaurant was fully booked two weeks in advance! Imagine the joy of booking a hotel with a restaurant precisely to avoid going out of the hotel and then having to anyway go out and look for one, in a cold December evening. Second, the sauna/wellness area not only proposes a series of relatively expensive treatments (which is completely normal, every hotel has to make a profit), but actually charges you close to a hundred euros an hour to use the sauna! This is normally included in the accommodation, (which is not cheap either). On top of that, the sauna only accommodates one couple at a time, so, guess what? The only free spot on that Friday was .... the following Saturday after check. Thanks but no thanks! So, my advice: if you're interested in either wellness or dining in, don't make a non-refundable booking and check out first their availability.
