We are an anglophone/francophone family of 4 (with two kids under 5 years) and had an incredible stay at Anji Banyan Tree. The outdoor pool was a highlight of the trip for our whole family. The staff were all very attentive - best service we’ve had from any hotel in years - they were friendly and anticipating what we may need for our children, offering options for vegetarian meals for my husband, etc. Specifically, Ida was our personal concierge during the trip and did a really wonderful job providing information and facilitating experiences for us the whole time. She was amazing. The facilities for children were excellent - tons of fun things to do and peacocks and bunnies roaming the property. Really can’t say enough about the service (especially Ida!), the quality of food (omg the breakfast buffet - there is even a mimosa bar and self serve soft serve ice cream!), the welcome gifts and special touches like burning essential oils in the room every evening, and the VIEW! We will definitely be back.

Staff are amazing and friendly, they upgraded our room after they knew we came for our honeymoon, especially the hotel staff Duke and Luna, they’ve been very helpful. We experienced the Couple Connection and the programme was very flexible and adjustable based on our request. Very good experience and highly recommended!!!

I had a wonderful stay in Anji, and I’d like to give special thanks to Luna. She greeted me warmly every day and always responded to any request right away with great enthusiasm and care. What impressed me the most was her thoughtfulness—she would give advance reminders about weather changes or other details so I could be well prepared. Even after I checked out and returned home, she kindly sent me a short message to make sure I had arrived safely. That extra touch of warmth and attention truly made me feel cared for. Luna’s service was exceptional and made my experience both comfortable and memorable.

My family of 3, 2 adults and a 2 year old, stayed 1 night in the "Forest Concert" room which is a kids' themed room. It's clear the room was originally designed to be a regular guest room but later turned into a themed kids' room, rather than a truly original themed room. I can tell because the room is a bit too cramped to fit in a kids' slide, stuffed animal seats, and kids' bed, and a play-fort. But my 2 year old still loved it nonetheless. These rooms are hard to come by so if you're maximizing your kid's happiness rather than your own in-room experience as an adult, it's worth it. However, the room's a bit aged, you can tell from scratches and signs of wear and tear in corners, bed post, walls, etc. Didn't feel like an exceptionally clean room, but not outright unclean either. The breakfast spread is rather plain, not bad, but I expected better for this room rate. I feel most Marriott's or Hyatt Regency in China could offer a better breakfast than here. My biggest complaint is that the hotel seems too commercially motivated for a luxury resort. What do I mean by this? First, in the lobby halls and hotel grounds there are walls and walls of merchandise being offered, and a large gift shop with Banyan Tree branded goods. In the room itself, there are constant reminders, on amenity stickers and tags, of which amenities are charged to your room if you take it home by accident (or not). Not surprisingly, not many things were generously given in this hotel - the fruit platter was pitiful, and no minibar items were free. I'm not expecting freebies but too many reminders of these things leaves a sour taste in my mouth. This was my second Banyan Tree in China, my first being in Huangshan, and both left me underwhelmed. I feel given this room rate, you can do much better in similar level brands in Japan or SE Asia, like high end Ritz Carltons or Park Hyatts.

Lovely room with great views of the beautiful local scenery. Staff were helpful and the restaurant facilities excellent. Nice to have daily tai chi outside restaurant before breakfast for an energising start to the day

Excellent stay, peaceful property with huge area to walk around and feel the nature. Recommend to make access to water side free for guests (camping area near water was blocked). Restaurants are too expensive, better to drive out and find local places to eat.
