We stayed for all four days in the tented camp which has four double tents and a dining/ seating tent. The tents are comfortable with proper loos and bucket showers. They have wonderful views across the reserve. Their sturdiness was tested on our second night when it rained stair rods followed by hail and winds gusting up to 100 kph. Despite this all was well and we remained dry. The game is excellent. The most exciting was the three cheetah sightings, when we were able to leave the vehicle and walk within 20 m. The reserve only has animals that are naturally indigenous to the Karoo. Our only disappoin**ent was the comparative lack of particularly small birds, due, we were told, to baboons eating their eggs. Our guide Rulof and tracker Kevin were both first class. All in all the great stay.

We shared to rooms in the Manor. As the Manor has four rooms only there were only two other couples staying with us which made our stay a really private encounter. The Manor is huge and leaves enough space for everyone - in the rooms, on the private terraces, the large living room, the pool and garden. The service and food were exceptional and the safaris were the highlight of our trip to South Africa. We hope to return again.

Samara Game Reserve is a once in a life game reserve and nature 5-star experience. Wonderful staff, excellent lodgings in a beautiful and tranquile environment. The lodge is luxurious, but modest in its beauty. The highlight of our 6 day stay here were the staff: highly professional, forthcoming and friendly and extremely knowledgeable of all aspects of our natural surroundings in the beautiful Karroo. We will certainly come again.

The setting at Samara is spectacular, the mountain landscape and vast plains are a feast for the eyes. My Karoo Suite was very spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished. A real highlight were the meals, authentic Karoo cuisine served every time in a new surprise location and by super friendly staff with big smiles. Our ranger and tracker were excellent and very knowledgeable. For a bucket list experience guests can spend a night in the star bed or try the Plains Camp, an authentic off-the-grid safari camp. Samara can be easily combined with a visit to Graaff-Reinet, a historic town with many quaint shops and restaurants.

Had a wonderful stay at Samara. From the moment we arrived we really felt like family, all the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The main house of the lodge is lovely, beautifully laid out and very tastefully furnished. Our room was so comfortable and the bed was just amazing, beautiful linen, had a great sleep. Loved the bathroom! The food was delicious, excellent buffet breakfast and every evening an amazing 5 star meal. The safari drives morning and evening were a delight. M-zi our guide was wonderful, so knowledgeable about everything, animals, birds, plants, rocks and with the help of Rohan tracked all the animals for us. Truly a great experience. I can’t recommend Samara enough. It’s an amazing place to stay and their conservation efforts are to be applauded.

The passion for conservation shines through in this mammoth rewinding project. It is a five star bush experience in a unique setting with a wide variety of game over 5 biospheres. The surrounding mountains give the park a wonderfully unique feel. The staff are very knowledgeable and competent. I highly recommend Samara as a must see destination.

Exceeded all expectations. Accomodations were homey, clean and the service was 10/10. The staff was so warm, always attentive - the food was 10/10. They were intentional about creating an experience from the time we arrived to the time we left. Now let's talk about the game drives!! Getting to see the animals by vehicle and by foot was special. The tracker & the guide were such good energy & very knoweldgeable.

This was our second visit to Samara ( last visit Oct 2019) and we were allocated the same room in the Manor House. The staff at the Manor House were all friendly, welcoming and professional which made our stay even more relaxing. The quality and choice of meals was perfect and the staff accommodated our special requests. Thank you. The game drives were first class and our Ranger Ze and Tracker Enrico were extremely knowledgeable about the reserve animals. What a surprise when we met Ze for the second time - his care and driving skills were exceptional especially when driving up to the mountains. During our bush walks we experienced some very close encounters with Rhinos, Baby Rhinos and Cheetahs and Springbok and witnessed a Cheeta attempting a chase to catch his lunch. Fortunately the springbok evaded capture.

An exhilarating experience from the moment we arrived until we left! At the Eco-luxe tented camp we were greeted with great enthusiasm by the ever-so-friendly staff. The accommodation was impeccable. A great “Africa-only” experience with luxury interweaved! The “bucket shower” was a first for me and I really enjoyed having a hot shower after the game drives and bush walks. The abundance of wildlife was everywhere. We enjoyed spotting a variety of birds as we are keen birdwatchers. The huge variety of antelopes, the giraffes, the awesome backdrop of the Karoo scenery and then the highlight of tracking the cheetahs and the lions just made our stay one to remember for ever! The wildlife experience filled our souls and the delicious Al fresco dining filled our tummies! A huge thank you to all of you at Samara – you are really making the Karoo wildlife experience worth it!
