Join the Wild Clay Pottery Workshop with KC Adams at the Art Gallery of Burlington. This workshop is a unique opportunity to learn about Indigenous pottery and its superiority as a cooking vessel compared to metal pots. KC Adams, a renowned Winnipeg-based Relational Maker, will lead participants in a smudge bowl-making workshop using a combination of commercial clay and raw clay harvested from Manitoba, along with ground grandfather rocks used in sweat ceremony. This special clay body is suitable for cooking over an open fire, offering a traditional and authentic cooking experience. 

The workshop will take place on Saturday, January 20, from 1 PM to 4 PM. The cost for museum members is $60, while non-members can attend for $65. KC Adams, also known as Flying Overhead in Circles Eagle Woman, is an accomplished artist with a B.F.A in Studio Arts and a Masters in Cultural Studies. She has been featured in numerous exhibitions and received several prestigious awards for her work.

In addition to the workshop, the Art Gallery of Burlington is collecting non-perishable food and hygiene products for the Burlington Food Bank. The demand for assistance with groceries has increased by 20% in the last year, and your contributions will help support the food bank's efforts in meeting the growing need for food security in the community.

Please note that COVID-19 safety guidelines are in place, and visitors are required to self-screen for symptoms before attending. Dress appropriately or bring an apron, as the materials used in the workshop may cause clothing to get messy. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. If you have any allergies, health concerns, or learning exceptions that could impact your participation, please notify us during registration.
