Join us for a workshop aimed at young people (aged 16+) with artists Oscar Prentice-Middleton, with the participation of Scott Myles. Inspired by Myles's current show at GoMA,  Head in a Bell , participants will be given an introduction to building sounds utilising VCV Rack, a freely available digital modular synthesis software.  After an introduction to the show by Scott himself, we will explore with Oscar everyday sounds, listening closely to their characteristics and breaking them down into their basic components: pitch, volume, and how these change over time. We will first learn to approximate and mimic these sounds using basic synthesis techniques before experimenting with their building blocks and sculpting them into imagined sounds. The workshop is FREE but places are limited - please cancel your place with plenty of notice if you can no longer attend.
