This symposium will feature lectures, performances, discussions, and readings with global artists. It will provoke creative dialogues that challenge how we understand contemporary jewelry in the context of our virtual, information-driven world. Monday, November 18th | The Fold and the Flow 2:00 PM: Proximal Poetics: Jewelry and the Edge of Bodily Knowing – Moderated by Jonathan Boyd, this session explores the relationship between technology, art, and the materiality of jewelry in the digital era. 3:30 PM: Materialities of Metal and Memory – Practitioners Sally Collins, Adi Toch, Max Warren & Katharina Dettar discuss how metal can express narratives and convey memory through physical and symbolic qualities. Saturday, November 23rd | The Soft and the Squeeze 11:30 AM: Chatting - Artists in a Social Sphere – A conversation between artists Maisie Broadhead, Lucie Gledhill & Sabina Schreurs, moderated by Roxanne Simone. 1:00 PM: Special Guest: Clerk and CEO of the Goldsmiths' Company Annie Warburton. Each November, NYC Jewelry Week proudly presents ‘The Week,’ a 7-day celebration dedicated to the art of jewelry.
