Purple Mountain Majesty is an invitational exhibition happening at Cottonwood Center for the Arts in Colorado Springs. This exhibition, presented in partnership with the Purple Mountain Group at Morgan Stanley, showcases a collection of works by local artists that celebrate the iconic Pikes Peak. The exhibition is inspired by the awe-inspiring experience of poet and writer Katherine Lee Bates, who, in 1893, ascended Pikes Peak and was captivated by its resplendence and breathtaking view. It was this experience that led her to compose the beloved poem "America the Beautiful," with Pikes Peak being immortalized in the line "For purple mountain majesties, above the fruited plain..." 

The Purple Mountain Group at Morgan Stanley commissioned this collection of artworks to honor Pikes Peak's status as "America's Mountain" and its deep significance to the local community and the nation as a whole. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in this installation and explore two floors of open studios and galleries at Cottonwood Center for the Arts. The exhibition will be open for the entire month of February during normal business hours, and the opening reception will take place on the first Friday of the month, from 5-8 pm. Admission to Purple Mountain Majesty is free, providing everyone with an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and significance of Pikes Peak through the eyes of talented local artists.
