PFAS are a class of synthetic chemicals used since the 1940s that are fast becoming an issue on many development sites – particularly brownfield – across the UK.
These 'forever chemicals' are a major concern due to their serious risk to human health.
For construction and demolition companies, they are an additional contaminant to deal with as they fall within the scope of the EA's environmental permitting regime.
