The Backpacking Shakedown Hike is the ideal trial run for those preparing to venture into the backcountry. It serves as a comprehensive test to ensure that everything is in order before embarking on your ultimate adventure. This course is particularly beneficial for individuals who have completed or are bypassing the Backpacking Essentials program and feel confident in their gear and backpacking knowledge.

During the Backpacking Shakedown Hike, participants will have the opportunity to review their gear, address any issues, and partake in a shakedown hike to test their equipment. This hike offers a controlled environment where any concerns can be resolved before heading out on an actual backpacking trip. With the guidance of our experienced instructors, participants will gain valuable insights and have their questions answered throughout this 3-4 hour expedition.

The focus of this hike is to help participants become physically and mentally attuned to the demands of backpacking. By honing their skills in a supportive environment, individuals will increase their confidence and develop a positive group dynamic. It is worth noting that the minimum age for participation is 12 years old, with both the minor(s) and a parent/guardian required to be registered and paid participants.
