A fortress at the top of Montjuic

CASTILLO DE MONTJUIC At the top of Montjuic Hill, there is a wonderful place for a 360 panoramic view of the city of Barcelona, it is the Castle of Montjuic 🏰 This place has a long history, it was used since the ancient times as a sighting post, and the current construction dates back to the end of 18th century. It actually, has a bit of a dark history for the people of Barcelona, this is because the castle was used on several occasions as a prison and during Spanish Civil War, after the victory of Franco troops and under his order here, the president of the Generalitat de Cataluña at the time, Lluis Companys, was killed. But besides its past, it now has become a beautiful spot to see Barcelona from the top, and even though the hike up here makes for a hard work out it is worth it (or you can choose to arrive here by bus or even a cable car from the port of Barcelona) 🚡 Basic entrance fee to the castle is 5 euros 💶 They also do events and activites, and actually, right outside the castle, in the evenings of the summer months they organize a weekly outdoor cinema, where they screen local as well as international films. #bucketlistreboot #tripblazers #barcelona #barcelonatravel #spain #spaintravel
