Hotel Castell

Beautiful village, great hotel with amazing staff. Also great display of contemporary art in all spaces. Waitress in the breakfast room is so attentive and friendly. Will def go back with my children in the winter

I stayed in Zuoz for Christmas with friends who were living in Switzerland. It’s a private hotel located close to town at a ski in resort with many winter activities near bye. One of the most luxurious Christmas, and holiday I’ve ever had. Didn’t break the bank too much compared to St Moritz prices but matches the quality. Restaurant changes menu every night. Great options, including vegan. Great cocktail bar with open fire and relaxed setting. Staff go above and beyond. Very friendly and speak many languages. The top touches are Hammam, ice skating rink and the breakfast every day included. I hope to do Christmas here again

Close (but not to close) to St. Moritz, Hotel Castell is one of the best kept (and maybe last) Engadine's secret. A magical place for the most cosmopolitan and culturede travellers, able to create in the guest a kind of "nostalgia" that we can definitely named as "sickness of Castell"

Hotel is also a bit of a museum/gallery. Stylish interiors, nice large rooms (the one we had), good service and great breakfast. Also the spa was great and they did their best with the covid restrictions. Unfortunately dinner at the restaurant ist not attractive for vegetarians, Selection is limited and the fixed price for 3 or 4 courses is great with meat dishes while with vegetarian dishes I ended up paying more than for the individual plates. And the home made burger specially for me was just the normal rather cheap store bought burger from the hotel bar.

The atmosphere in the hotel is hotel is wonderful: a great mixture of hospitality, architecture and art. The absolute highlight of the hotel for me is the private sauna: a impressive mountain view and very hot and with a wonderfull odor. Don't forget to make a reservation for your private hour when you book Hotel Castell!

My wife and I stayed at the Castell earlier this month and had a wonderful time. The location is breathtaking; we were happy to have a rental car so could visit lots of highlights nearby. The Castell provided us with bus and lift tickets which allowed us to take a gondola up a nearby mountain and then take a wonderful two hour hike which the hotel manager recommended. The hotel itself is unique; a combination of elegant and historic area along with the fantastic modern art collection of the owner, which is spread throughout the entire hotel. Our room was furnished with modern design as well and featured a walk in closet that would be extremely useful during ski season. The bed was incredibly comfortable by the way. The staff was highly professional and welcoming - they spoke English perfectly with my wife and humored me as I practiced my German on them. We had a fine meal in the dining room and truly enjoyed the buffet breakfast. A real highlight for me and my wife was the Hammam, a Turkish bath house experience that was both relaxing and romantic. To cap off the day, we got to watch the Europa Cup games along with a few other guests in the small, in-house theater. Switzerland won, so what could be better than that!

Hier passt einfach alles: aufmerksame Mitarbeiter, die uns Gäste mit spürbarer Freude umsorgen; wunderschöne Zimmer und eine phantastische Sonnenterasse mit Bergpanorama. Nicht zu vergessen das leckere Essen, ob nun am reichhaltigen Frühstücksbüffet oder das abendliche Menü, welches schon für das Auge ein Genuss ist - und noch mehr für den Gaumen.

Das Hotel Castell gehört zu den renommiertesten Adressen des Oberengadins. Die Ambiance ist einmalig, das Ensemble wunderschön. Das Personal grundsätzlich sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir besuchten mit Familie, zu sechst, das Restaurant im grossen Jugendstil-Saal. Eingepfercht waren wir an einem viel zu kleinen runden Tisch in einer düsteren Ecke. Das Servicepersonal war durch die engen Verhältnisse sichtlich überfordert, einen angemessenen Service - eines 4-Sterne-Hauses würdig - anzubieten. Hier ein Auszug: - falsch auf- und abdecken - über den Handrücken / über Teller hinweg Wasser/Wein einschenken - Besteck fallen lassen - Gläser vergessen - Personen mehrmals am Tisch angerempelt od. an den Stühlen gerückt Die Vorspeisen wurden in angemessener Zeit serviert. Gedecke wurden eiligst abgeräumt, obwohl noch Personen mit der Vorspeise beschäftigt waren, dasselbe wiederholte sich beim Hauptgang/Dessert. Nach Beendigung der Vorspeisen fragte man uns nach nicht mal drei Minuten, ob man nun den Hauptgang servieren dürfe… wir bedingten uns eine kleine Pause aus… nach dem Hauptgang und dem Abräumen wurden schon mit der Dessertkarte gewedelt. Erst auf meine Intervention hin, man fühle sich gedrängt, wurde das Tempo verlangsamt. Für die nächsten 45min wurden wir dann komplett ignoriert, es wurde nicht mehr nachgefragt und auch keine Getränke nachgeschenkt. An den Nachbartischen wurden laut klappernd schon die Frühstücksgedecke aufgelegt und das Morgenbuffett hergerichtet. Ein letztes Wort zur Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis und zur Qualität der Soeisen: - Qualität gut - sehr gut - verhältnismässig kleine Portionen - preislich im mittleren-oberen Bereich, wobei gewisse Gerichte deutlich overpriced waren, andere, die es hätten sein können, jedoch nicht - schlechte Balance Die Variabilität, das tolle Angebot, die innovativen Gerichte und die Kombinationsmöglichkeiten auf der Speisekarte möchte ich positiv hervorheben. Alles in allem ein durchzogenes Erlebnis. Wir kehren als ehemalige Zuozer mit sehr gemischten Gefühlen - das erste Mal nach unzähligen Besuchen - wirklich enttäuscht nach Basel zurück.
