I can honestly say that Villas del Vigia makes for an amazing vacation - from the welcome to the good-byes, always top notch. A++ While undergoing some construction to expand the complex to another 2 buildings next door (set to open mid-late next year) we wanted for nothing and we did not experience any negative affects of it. Should be exciting for next winter for sure. We stayed in the Penthouse (4th floor - highest point in Zihuatanejo I believe?) and the view is absolutely spectacular! It is spacious and has all the comforts of home. The 3 bedroom suite spreads out into a fully open-air living area with secondary closed off bedroom area to ensure air conditioning keeps a cool place to sleep. :-) The penthouse has everything you need, comes with full size coffee maker and complimentary local coffee (1st bag) which is quite good, we enjoyed it and were able to have additional coffee supplied in minutes when needed (fee). Full kitchen (less an oven) that came in handy for making some meals ourselves (that we ordered with Isabel and the team delivered groceries right to our room) and we even had Fernando make us dinner twice in the suite (fee). The team of Isabel, Celso and Fernando can do practically anything for you, and that comes in handy as you are a bit isolated in Cerro del Vigia, on top of the hill, you would need a cab (they can arrange for you) to get to Zihua, Ixtapa and any restaurants/sites you may want to go to. Isabel was able to make reservations, get groceries, order take out on our behalf and even make change for some larger peso bills....wow, they really take care of you here! Of course you still have to pay for the additional services/groceries/meal service, but for the convenience you can't beat it. Villas del Vigia do have an 'optional' service fee of 5% when checking in - which honestly is nothing compared to the service you receive. The Penthouse has two (yes 2) dipping pools - one in the main living area and one off the principal bedroom. It has 3 bathrooms total (2 ensuite and one 'family' bathroom in the hallway. Two sitting areas, one that overlooks Cerro del Vigia/Punta Garrobo and THE SUNSET with another L shaped couch where you can curl up and watch/stream a show (full smart Roku TV to use). The beds are comfortable and we actually slept in the 2nd master as it was able to still get the WiFi from the main area where the principal bedroom can lose the signal when closed off. Overall sleeping here was great - beds are firm but not hard as many visitors to Mexico often find. They provide essentials like shampoo/conditioner/shower gel, bath towels for all bathrooms that you can use for the main pool as well. Overall, we left relaxed and satisfied and would return in a heartbeat! While not inexpensive, I think for what you are getting it is a decent option for a couple or family (or even just a group of friends - we stayed with another couple in the Penthouse last year and it was just as good).
