Center Parcs offers a tale of two halves. On the positive side, the location is truly lovely – peaceful, tranquil, and surprisingly convenient for exploring Amsterdam. The Aqua Mundo is a fantastic water park, and the sheer variety of activities available is a real plus. Our basic "Harbor" accommodation was comfortable, well-located, and we particularly enjoyed the sauna and the setting. The Beach Bar also deserves a special mention for its great vibe. However, the dining experience is a significant drawback. Treating Center Parcs as a "hotel" with reliable on-site dining is likely to lead to disappointment. The service in the à la carte restaurants is consistently poor, not due to the staff, but seemingly due to inadequate management training in basic customer service. Expect very long waits (2+ hours) for your end to end meal, which detracts significantly from the enjoyment of what is otherwise decent food. This was a common complaint among other families we spoke with. The buffet is also poor value, costing over £100 for a family of four for a very basic offering, despite the included drinks. While the breakfast buffet was better, the "all-inclusive" option didn't prove worthwhile for us. Be aware that several on-site restaurants, including the excellent Beach Bar, are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Off-site dining options are a 15+ minute drive away, though the on-site supermarket is a useful alternative. Bike hire is easy and efficient. Despite these inconsistencies, we, as discerning first-time visitors, did enjoy our four days. However, any future visits would undoubtedly involve a much more self-sufficient approach, specifically avoiding the on-site restaurants.
