Halfway House Inn Country Lodge

Had an overnight stay at this lovely place. Friendly welcoming staff. Lovely little bar. Dinner was blooming first class !! From sizzling steak and prawns to fillet steak cooked to perfection !! Made us look forward to the breakfast which was just as good !! Unlimited coffee juice and a good old English fry up !! The rooms could do with a little spring clean but the bed was comfy and we slept well. Would definitely stay again

First the positives... Large car park Clean bedding and towels Nice breakfast Pleasant bar area Easy to find. So, the not so good.. Room was number 2 outside by the car park at the rear. It had been cleaned but the mould in and around the bath/shower should really be sorted. Lots of it, both unsightly and unhygienic. The hot tap was very loose and oddly turned the wrong way, the power shower was connected and lit up but was not connected. The tap shower worked fine, however. No bulb or cover in the light above the shower so potentially an electrical issue there... Interesting positioning of the TV box, wedged behind a picture which increased the feeling of a tired room desperately in need of redecoration. Went for a meal Sunday night only to find that no food was available. Should have checked earlier but perhaps some communication or signs would have helped. Staff seemed rather stressed and we could hear conversations at breakfast which indicated other guests were less than happy too. Such a shame because with the location and potential of the hotel it could be really nice. Disappointed to say its highly unlikely we'd return as we have stayed at several similarly priced hotels within a short drive and all have been much better.

On behalf of the Westland classic motorcycle club I booked our annual Christmas carvery which was held in December. The food was excellent the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Steve and his team ensured that everything ran smoothly catering for our group of 34 people with ease. I would thoroughly recommend the halfway house not only for large groups amd carvery but also for the excellent evening menu
