Mr. Yanyun and Ms. Jueyun, the two owners of Tea Hermitage Mountain Lodge, were determined to transform its "past life" — a rammed-earth house at the foot of the mountain — into a homestay in harmony with nature. They specially invited the renowned senior interior and landscape designer Mr. Huang Wei to craft it with dedication. In 2016, Tea Hermitage Mountain Lodge was featured in Interior Designer magazine, earning high praise from industry insiders.
Nestled deep in the heart of Lantang Village, it is surrounded by mountains on three sides and water on one, backing onto Sangu Stone (Wuyi Mountain Resort is named "Sangu" after this very Sangu Stone visible from the lodge), built along the mountain slope. Here, crimson cliffs meet clear waters, lush forests and tall bamboos thrive, mist curls around peaks, birds sing and flowers bloom, the air is fresh and cool, and pastoral tea plantations and paths spread all around. Gathered here are all such beauties: whether strolling through the village or sitting to gaze at the mountains, the stillness of the hills feels as ancient as time, and the gentle flow of water seeps into the heart — a return to pastoral mountain living.
The moment you push open the door to a guest room, you’ll catch a faint fragrance of tea, for each room is equipped with a small tea roasting machine. Every day, regardless of occupancy, housekeeping thoroughly disinfects each room, from every corner to small items like light switches, remote controls, and hair dryers. The mattresses are custom high-grade VENTRY latex from Thailand, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep, so you wake the next morning to the sweet chirping of birds and the gurgling of streams. The owners have brought their own high standards for daily toiletries into the bathroom: natural hot spring water with strong water pressure washes away the trivialities and dust of the day. Soft yellow light from wooden lampshades falls on the tea table by the bay window and the hand-embroidered cushions and backrests with gold thread, shimmering gently in the glow. The crochet patterns on curtains, quilts, pillowcases, and waist pillows are all handcrafted, blending the beauty of traditional culture seamlessly into the natural setting.
A mere 10-minute walk from the bustling resort area, with pastoral scenery along the way, yet here not a sound of traffic or crowds disturbs the peace. As night falls, the bright moon hangs high in the sky; look up to see twinkling stars, close your eyes to catch a faint scent of books, bow your head to hear the gurgling stream, and let the strains of the guqin (traditional Chinese zither) linger in your ears...
Tea Hermitage also offers every guest complimentary fine teas from core tea-growing areas of Wuyi Mountain, drawing tea enthusiasts and like-minded friends in search of fragrance. Here, you can listen to the melodious guqin played by Mr. Yanyun and savor the aromatic Wuyi tea brewed by Ms. Jueyun.
Come to Wuyi Mountain, come to Tea Hermitage Mountain Lodge, and feel the unhurried lifestyle of the locals and the genuine sense of belonging amidst mountains and waters. We only wish to grant you an unforgettable memory that lingers in your heart.
