Premier Inn Barnsley (Dearne Valley)

Staff always friendly and helpful. Room was chilly on entering but soon heated up. Comfortable bed. Restaurant and bar were being refurbished so looking forward to our next visit when this should all be finished. No cooked breakfast but thre was coffee and croissants for us in the morning.

Awful hotel, soundproofing non existent. We could hear guests above us at 5am getting ready for their day, including a drip drop from the shower ( they weren’t exceedingly noisy) told receptionist at 9am, she said we should have come to reception at 5am and she would have told them to be quiet! They’re entitled to move around their room! They weren’t banging around, just ordinary moving. If she’d have told me to be quiet I definitely would have told her where to go! I have messaged a complaint, but no response so far. The restaurant was shut, which we knew, and the workmen weren’t working at the time, but the promised pastries weren’t there

I wasn’t overly impressed with this Premier Inn. We arrived at 8pm after a 4 hour drive and went to go to the bar to have something to eat and drink. There was only one member of staff at the bar and one in the kitchen. There were many groups of people arriving on Friday evening and the staff wasn’t giving us a warm welcome in fact they were pretty miserable we had arrived and ordered food and drink at 8pm. As a group we all felt the hospitality was very poor. No beer left on the pumps, we was told by the bar staff this was because they were closing the resturant in a weeks time and didn’t want to waste the beer in the pumps. Not a great response when you’re paying to stay there. The hotel was extremely understaff. Overall not what I would expect from Premier Inn.

On first impressions, It appeared pretty standard Premier Inn stuff, friendly welcome albeit had to wait for a receptionist by calling a buzzer. Room was freezing, the heater was turned off at the mains, so I put it on adjusted the thermostat and went for dinner, when I got back the room was warm. However, during the night the thermostat must be set to default back to 16 Degrees as when I woke up at 5am for the bathroom, the room was freezing again. I get that energy consumption will be a KPI in a business, but come on, it's hospitality, a room should be warm. On first impressions the room was clean, however, upon closer inspection there was lots of cobwebs above the bed and in the corner by the window (room 121), and a suspicious curly hair in the bath! Dinner was decent enough and service good, however, as a previous reviewer said, breakfast is not unlimited, you have order it to be cooked, which for me wasn't a major issue as I am happy with what I ordered, and being freshly cooked was good, but if you advertise unlimited then you really should have a buffet like most other Premier Inns for you to help yourself. The other stuff was also sparse with empty containers, there was no butter only cheap and nasty margarine and the bananas looked like they had been there for days. I believe this is a fair review, and I hope that these items are acted on, as with some effort it could be very good.

Stayed for 2 nights visiting my mum in a care home in Barnsley. From checking in I was greeted by Becky who was very friendly and answered all questions to the best of her knowledge. On the evening they had forecasted snow and wow when I woke up I didn’t know what to do for the best but The same member of team Becky went above and beyond to ensure I could get out of the car park to go visit my mum. She helped me dig out the snow around to try ensure I got out the car park as was quite icy. Once I got a run Becky told me to keep going for a run and not to stop. The room I was in was really comfy and clean and tidy and the fluffiest duvet I have had to keep me warm on the cold Snowy night. The only little jiggly bit I would say is that rooms could do with a lick of paint but I was informed this hotel is undergoing refurbishment All staff members I came into contact with were very friendly and helpful, Becky is a credit to premier inn. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends and will be back when visiting My mum.

The place was great. Huge comfy bed. Large room. Fantastic price. We have stayed here before - it is our go to PI in the area. Breakfast was great - a shout out to Katie who was our server, she went over and above and nothing was too much trouble for her. Katie is a true ambassador for Premier Inn and needs to be recognised!
