Denecrest Guest House

My friend and I found ourselves in an awful situation after being scammed and left without a place to stay in Windermere. We were exhausted, walking around looking for somewhere — anywhere — with space. When we knocked on Chris and his wife’s guest house, even though they were fully booked, they went above and beyond to help us. Chris and his wife are truly the most kind-hearted, thoughtful people we’ve ever met. They made space for us when there was none, clearing out a room just so we could have somewhere safe and warm to stay. Their guest house is not only beautiful and immaculately kept, but it's also in the perfect location — right in the heart of Windermere and close to all the transport links. Chris gave us his time and support to help us through the whole situation with the scam, even helping us take the steps to recover our money. He didn’t have to do any of this, but he did — and we’ll never forget it. I couldn’t recommend this place more. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Windermere with genuinely wonderful hosts who care deeply about their guests, this is it. Thank you again, Chris and your lovely wife — you turned our nightmare into a warm and welcoming memory.

Lovely stay at the Denecrest Guest House. It was clean and tidy and the room had everything we needed. Ian was very friendly and gave helpful advice about where to go in the area. The breakfast was also delicious! The hotel is in a great location- close to the train station and restaurants/pubs close by too, so a good place to stay if you don’t have a car. Also a pleasant walk to Bowness-on-Windermere where there is access to the lake. Would definitely stay there again.

Just done a 2 night stay at the Denecrest, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is great for exploring the South Lakes, and locally Windermere and Bowness are walkable, or a short bus ride away. The room was clean, and fully functional with all amenities, such as Tea / Coffee etc, clean Towels and comfy bed. Ian and Christine (Mine Hosts) are passionate about their business, and the Lake District, and ever so friendly. Overall a great stay.

Stayed 6 nights at this great place. Ian and Christine were wonderful hosts. Location was perfect for exploring all around the area. Room was clean. Breakfast was delicious. Close to Windermere town and all the shops and restaurants.
