Applegarth Villa Hotel & Restaurant (Adult Only)

Perfect restaurant for celebrating my anniversary, great views whilst eating a perfect dinner. The staff were very friendly, service & atmosphere was so relaxed we thoroughly enjoyed our visit The menu had few items on it but was perfect selections to choose from. I had the trout followed by the cod which was amazing, my husband had crab cake followed by the lamb which he said was just perfectly cooked One of the best panna cotta I have ever eaten so never take this off menu as its worth coming back for My husband had cheesecake which he struggled to eat as the base was extremely hard, never had one like that before so maybe could do with softening up a bit for the future. We also enjoyed a cheeseboard after which had a great selection of cheeses & would recommend to anyone

I am loathed to write this review as it’s a hidden gem we want to keep to ourselves. Everything is outstanding, the hosts, the rooms, the food - both breakfast and evening meal was fantastic the stars are definitely well awarded, it was our first time and we will be back!

A beautiful hotel. We stayed for my birthday and they made such a fuss of me. We booked a hot tub suite which was simply stunning. You can have drinks in your room, and they also offer room service for food if you can’t tear yourselves away from the hot tub overlooking the lakes. We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner and the food was delicious. Can’t wait to return. I love this hotel!

Excellent couple of days here at Applegarth villa we stayed in room 17. The room was very spacious and modern with a double whirlpool bath. The staff were all very welcoming from the minute we got there. Absolutely loved our stay here. Would highly recommend this hotel.

This is a great hotel in windermire staff very pleasant and nothing was to much trouble Not far from town centre where there are plenty of restaurants Breakfast was one of the best especially egg Benedict Only thing I had concern on which was my fault if you wished room to be cleaned you had to place card on door I didn’t I have stayed in hotels usually 3 nights a week and have never had to ask for room to be cleaned Would I stay again definitely

Thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary mini break! Attentive staff, excellent breakfast and evening meal the quality of the food was excellent, we would highly recommend this hotel situated in the heart of Windermere. Easy Acces by bus to all areas of the lakes and some excellent local walks.

We had a wonderful 5 night break in room 1 the room was very spacious with a small terrace, it was nicely decorated to a very high standard with beautiful furnishings and attention to detail The bathroom was also spacious with shower, spa bath and a supply of fluffy white towels , dressing gowns and toiletries. The hotel is family owned they made us extremely welcome nothing was too much trouble, the hotel atmosphere is so relaxing and peaceful and we could not have wished for a better place to stay. We dined in the restaurant most nights exceptional food , wonderful service from the staff nothing too much trouble, very polite and helpful, the restaurant has a peaceful relaxing atmosphere with lovely views, and comfortable surroundings. We will be returning in the autumn wish we are looking forward to.

We would like to thank Kevin and Michelle for their warm welcome and hard work over our three night stay, nothing was too much trouble for them. Our accommodation was excellent, the hot tub was relaxing and not overlooked. We took our puppy who was made to feel welcome as well. Although we couldn’t eat in the restaurant, which is clearly explained prior to booking, we were still able to access the excellent food. We ate either in our suite and our food was delivered, hot and delicious. Or we ate on the beautiful terrace with views of the mountains. The food was cooked and presented to a very high standard. We are already planning our next visit. Thank you again to everyone who made our stay so relaxing.

We spent an excellent 3 days at the Applegarth, great luxury accommodation with beautiful views of the hills over Windermere. Excellent food served in style without ever feeling it was crowded or even that we were in the peak season. Very personal service for the small number of guests (limited by the number of rooms, not demand) made it feel select. Our room was great with the type of shower you don't want to hurry to leave. Not well suited to the less mobile as the building conversion has stairs and no lifts - not a problem for us. Location is excellent, the delightful town is very near and the excellent bus service (£2 fare) can get you anywhere while you leave your car in the spacious hotel private car park. Bowness and the lake cruises is 15 minutes away on foot, but 5 minutes by bus. And the clincher was their 3 mights for the price of 2 which I understand they are continuing. Highly recommended.
